Chapter One ~ Family?

Hey guys! Welcome to my new book! So I basically had this thought and I was like, I gotta write it. Not sure if it has been done before. I'm not a very good writer, and chapters will be kind of short but I hope you can enjoy the story. I'll try to update frequently. Let's get straight into it!

Dan looked up as Phil walked into the room. He smiled. "Hey birthday boy." He chuckled. Phil half smiled, but looked as though something was on his mind. "What's up?" Dan asked, tilting his head to the side. Phil sat down on the couch, not too close to Dan. "Well..." Phil started. "I was thinking...Dan, I want a family."
Dan stared at Phil, confused. Phil sighed. "Well I mean, I'm 30 now, and I really don't see myself getting with anyone else...but I see myself with a family. I just want a child."
Dan took a big breath in. "Where are you going to get a child Phil? Are you going to move out? What happens to me?" A million thoughts raced around Dans head, panic setting in. Phil bit his lip nervously. "I would adopt obviosuly....but Dan...could we...." Phil trailed off. He looked down, then up at dan. "Could we start a family together?"
Dan mouth opened in shock. "What?"
"Well, I mean, do you ever see yourself with anyone else Dan?"
"Well no, but I don't see myself with a family either."
Phil squirmed in his seat, looking a little desperate. Dan was still in shock.
"Do you want us to be together Phil? To raise a child?"
"No...I mean... I don't know...Couldn't we just be best friends?"
"Two best friends raising a child together? Phil what would our fans say?"
Phil looked down, defeated, as Dan continued.
"It's an open invitation to the whole 'Phan is real' thing. You know I'm not good with that. And what about the child? Being raised by two best friends? Not even two dads, two best friends Phil! It doesn't work!"
"Why couldn't it work!" Phil retorted back, a bit too loud. Dan was taken aback.
"Well...I mean..."
Phil got up. "Just think about it. Please?" Dan nodded is head absentmindedly.
