"Time can heal, but the scars only hide the way we feel." -Daughtry
*Alistair's POV*
Checking the alarm clock for what felt like the millionth time, I rolled over and tried to relax enough to fall asleep, but quickly gave up and turned on my light.
I missed his warmth. I missed being able to run my fingers through his hair until we both fell asleep. But above all, I missed him.
This was the eighth day I had to try and sleep without him next to me. Throughout that entire time frame, I had maybe managed to get two hours of sleep.
Azel wasn't fairing any better, either. The only time we got to see each other was at school, and even then we couldn't really be alone. Every lunch period we would climb into the back seat of my car and try to catch up on our sleep, but never manged to really speak to each other.
He had agreed to be kinder to his mother and new father, in an attempt to let him or me stay over, and after days of convincing, it was finally going to happen tonight. Me and Azel were finally going to share his bed once again.
I still had about thirty minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off, so I figured now was as good a time as any to start getting ready for school.
Turning on the water and stepping into the shower, I had hoped the heat would help wake me up, but instead it only managed to make me relax.
"Looks like its another cold shower, then." I mumbled to myself.
Turning off the hot water, but leaving cold water running, I washed as quickly as I could then rushed out of the shower. After drying off and putting on some clean clothes, I walked over to the mirror and checked my reflection.
I looked terrible. Heavy bags sat underneath a set of eyes that were so red on the outside, it looked like I was high. Tearing myself from the reflection in front of me, I headed back to my room and picked up my phone.
It started ringing as I went to dial his number, causing me to smile. He had beaten me to it again.
"Hey, love." I stated, sitting on the edge of my bed.
"Hey, how'd you sleep?"
He already knew the answer. His voice was beyond heavy. I could tell he was tired, but like me, couldn't do anything about it.
"I miss you so much, Azel."
"Awe, you'll see me at school, hon."
"Its not the same, though. I miss us. Its killing me to hear you, but not being able to hold you is worse."
"I know, Alistair. This has been hell for me too. But, I do have some good news. Since I'm singing at the valentines dance on Friday, I'll be able to stay out late. Maybe we can spend some time together, then."
I couldn't stop the smile even if I wanted too. But just as quickly as it appeared, it vanished just the same. I couldn't stand that our relationship had fallen on when his Mom let him stay out late, but there wasn't anything I could do about it.
We talked on the phone until it was time to leave for school, and as soon as he came into eye sight in front of the doors, I ran over to where he was and pulled him into a tight embrace.
I didn't want to let go of him, I could have held him in my arms all day, but I knew we had class. Taking his hand and leading him to first period, he sat next to me in class taking notes to try and keep him awake.
By the time lunch had rolled around, we said our goodbyes to Lloyd and Logan then headed out to my car for our usual nap. I found myself growing angry the closer I got to falling asleep. I hated the fact that we couldn't be together like this normally, and I wanted nothing more than to beat both of his parents into a coma.
"Why aren't you asleep, Alistair?"
Running my fingers through his hair, I confessed my thoughts and kissed his forehead.
"I don't like this either, but its all we have right now."
After telling him not to worry and just go to sleep, I had to reasure him I was okay a number of times before he finally agreed.
When school had finally ended, I told Logan and Lloyd I would be going straight to Azel's house then hurried to my car to meet up with him.
He smiled weakly at me as he got in the car, and it looked like he was going to fall over any minute. His skin had paled from its normal golden color, while his eyes were just as red as mine.
Pulling his hand into might mine as I started driving, I asked him to sing for me, then almost hit a tree when he said no.
"I'm sorry, love. I just don't feel like singing right now."
"No Azel, you always sing. Hell, you sing about how much you love to sing. What's wrong?"
"I'm just tired, Alistair."
I felt bad for not believing him, but there wasn't much else I could do. Pulling into his drive way, a number of other cars were parked down the street, while music blasted from the inside of his house.
I had planned to ask him about it, buy he looked just as confused as I was. Taking his hand as we got out of the car, we headed for the inside of the house and almost fell over as the door shot open.
"Zel, my boy! Glad you could make it to the party! Happy birthday!"
The man was heavily intoxicated. Azel had started to speak, but was cut off by the man I assumed was his mother's husband.
"Oh, you must be his 'boyfriend' I swear, this boy takes his jokes so seriously!"
"Its not my birthda-"
"Man, you should have heard him last night! He was singing, if that's what you wanna call it, and I couldn't stop myself from laughing!"
I could feel the anger inside me swelling up like never before. Not only had he called Azel by MY nickname, he had also insulted his singing, and forgot his birthday.
"But its alright, I gave him a little tap on the cheek and he hasn't done it since."
"You did what?" I asked, stepping foreward.
"Alistair, don't." Azel stated grabbing hold of my hand.
"I just gave him a little tap on the cheek."
"Like this?"
I finished my words then threw the hardest punch I could manage, knocking him to the ground.

So, I'll be honest, I'm getting really close to deleting Empty Halls. And if I do, this one goes too. I'm really getting suck and fucking tired of people saying I ripped off other authors on here with Empty Halls when I didn't. If I continue to get messages/comments saying that I have, both this and the first book will be deleted.
Vote, comment, love me.
