"You see yourself as such a fucking shepherd. But you trip the blind and then you curse the leper." -Five Finger Death Punch

*Azel's POV*

Silencing my phone for the sixth time, I cursed and threw it across the room. I didn't care who was calling, nor did I have any desire to find out. Alistair laid beneath me, breathing heavily and trembling in pleasure. I had never played the dominant role before, but from the look on his face, I knew I was doing it well.

Though most of our clothes were still on, the friction between us was still enough to make him cry out. I knew this was his favorite part, the teasing before the storm.

Throwing his arms back down to the bed, I refused to let him touch me. A growl of pleasure left him once more as I climbed up and stopped on top of him, pinning his frame completely beneath me.

Shoving his arms down again, I pushed my lips to his neck, biting down in different spots. His body shook beneath mine, begging silently for more.

Hearing his phone start ringing, he growled in frustration then pulled it from the nightstand. Checking to see who was bothering us, he rolled his eyes and answered it.

"Someone better be dead Logan."

Still kissing on his neck, I rubbed my hands down his chest slowly caressing every inch of his perfect body. I could tell I was distracting him from Logan, causing him to keep asking what had just been said.

After hanging up and sighing, his body moved forward, lifting me to his lap but keeping our bodies connected. Rubbing his hands down my back and resting his head on my shoulder, he kissed up my neck then stopped at my forehead.

"We have to go back to school."

His words threw me off almost as much as his voice. Heavy and a bit annoyed, he sighed again before pushing his lips to mine once again.

"Why?"

"I guess your Mom is up at the school looking for you."

Making sure I didn't hear him wrong, I asked him to repeat the question then felt my eyes widen when he said the same thing. What the hell was my Mom doing at the school? When did she get back?

Question after question fought for control of my mind, but as each one took its hold, another one shoved it aside. Picking us up and moving from the bed he held me close by the door, still kissing my forehead.

Grabbing hold of the shirt I planned on wearing before, Threw it one and quickly moved back into his arms. Holding him as tightly as I could, I pushed my lips to his, savoring every taste as his tongue raced across mine.

"You know we're going to pick up where we left off soon, right?"

He chuckled at my words before picking me up and leading me downstairs. Grabbing some soda from the fridge and heading for the front door, I found myself growing more and more nervous.

Why was she back? Why would she just show up at school? What is she going to say about me skipping? Thousands of ideas ran throughout my head, each as unlikely as the last.

"I'm sure everything will be Zel." Alistair said, cutting into my mind.

Smiling and nodding, I wanted to believe what he said, but something in the back of my head told me otherwise. I know my mother, and she doesn't just pop up for no reason.

The drive to the school was torture. Knowing she was there waiting for me had caused my body to shake. Alistair was helping, taking hold of my hand and saying reasuring things, but they only went so far.

As a child, I had so much love for this woman. But now, I wasn't so sure. The role she played in my life had become almost nothing, as was the love I once had for her.

Thinking about it only made me more worried than I already was. Turning in my seat to talk to Alistair, a strange thought entered my head. I never really knew why he moved in with Lloyd and his family, I never even asked.

"Babe, why did you move here?"

My sudden question threw him off guard, causing him to jump and sharply turn the wheel. He gained control almost instantly, but I still let out a loud scream that he quickly laughed at.

Repeating the question, I waited in silence for a few minutes before he replied telling me now wasn't the time. I wanted to ask him more, to pressure him for an answer, but by the time the words began to take shape, he had already pulled into the school parking lot.

Deciding to put it off for now, I got out of the car and headed for the front doors of the school with Alistair. The halls were packed with students heading off to their classes.

Logan caught sight of us and ran over, worry painted all over his face.

"Dude your Mom is pissed."

"Where is she?"

"Front office I think."

Thanking him for letting me know, I kissed Alistair and let him know I'd see him later, then headed off to where Logan instructed. Fear swelled up inside me the closer I got to the doors. My heart felt like it was going to explore any moment, beating rapidly in my chest.

"Where the hell have you been?"

"Nice to see you too, mother."

Her look hadn't changed in the slightest. The same deep set blue eyes sat under her short cut black hair. The anti-wrinkle cream she always used covered every inch of her face, no doubt clogging every pore.

She was dressed really nice for some reason, wearing a tight black dress that showed off the curves of her body she would often brag about. A small gold chain held tightly around her neck matching the earings that sparkled in the light.

"We'll deal with this school skipping later, first we need to get you changed."

"What for?"

"Its a surprise."

I rolled my eyes at her statement. She hated surprises more than anyone I knew. When we made it back to the house I walked up the stairs and pulled out the nicest clothes I own. Throwing them on and doing my hair, I ignored my mother's comments, telling me to hurry up.

I took my time, slowly walking down the stairs. I didn't know what she was planning, but I didn't want any part of it. I didn't even want her back. She still hadn't given me any answers as to why she was here, instead she would counter with telling me to hurry up.

Loading into her car, she wouldn't let me turn on the radio, insisting that we talk. He questions were pointless, things she would have known if she was in my life.

"So, tell me what's new?"

"Oh you know, the norm. Came out the closet, fell in love, dad tried to kill me, got kidnapped, and no dealing with a mother who randomly decides to play a role in my life."

"You're gay?"

She sounded shocked, like she really didn't know. And how could she? The last time I saw her she was only in town for a week, and I spent all my time at the hospital with Alistair.

"That's really the only thing you got out of that?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

"It doesn't matter, just keep it to yourself. I don't want him getting upset."

"Who?"

I waited in silence repeating question from time to time, until we finally arrived at a dinner. Turning to me, a huge smile grew on her lips, covering most of her lower face. After asking the question one more time, she laughed and finally replied.

"You're gonna be so happy."

"Just tell me who it is."

"Your new step father!"
