Chapter Forty-Three

"Hey Raine, I locked the women in the movie room again, just in case something happens," Fletcher informed him. He was looking at Violet and Noelle curiously, wondering why they weren't with the other women.

"We're coming with you," Violet grinned wickedly. Finn opened his mouth to protest but she shot him a glare that quickly silenced him.

Raine nodded to his men and thanked Fletcher. "Remember, some of the Hunters are possessed by demons, understood?" When everyone nodded he gave a grim smile, "Let's head out, men."

They rolled their shoulders and walked out the front door, fierce expressions on their faces, ready for a fight.

"Wait!" Noelle called out, suddenly. Raine whipped around to look at her worriedly. "I just remembered something Ayumu told me. He told me the reason why he and Hadrian were stronger than normal. Apparently if they drink a small amount of blood from their opponents they gain a certain amount of immunity against them. However, if they drink too much they can go insane."

Raine let out a bitter curse, "Of course." He shook his head in disbelief. "Regardless of this new development, we can still easily overpower them. We simply can't rely on anything but brute force."

"We won't let you down, Alpha," Ryder snarled. The other men chimed in, bowing their heads in respect to Raine.

"Thank you, men. Let's take care of this mess once and for all." With that they headed out the front gate, making sure it closed and locked quickly behind them. There was a moment of silence where the men waited to see if a threat was nearby. When nothing leaped out of the woods at them, they relaxed only a small amount. "I think we're still ahead of the Hunter's, so I it's pertinent that we head into the woods where they are going to come out of. I'd rather bring the fight to them than wait here like sitting ducks," Raine informed everyone.

Quietly they crept through woods, making sure to keep an ear out for any telling noises. Noelle tried her best to stay quiet, but for some reason, no matter how much she tried to avoid them, every crunchy leaf and brittle stick found a way under her foot. It amazed her how quiet the large men could be while she was clomping around like an elephant.

They stopped when they reached a small clearing in the woods, spreading out into a half circle. Raine lifted his head towards the sky and closed his eyes, listening and smelling. "They're near."

Noelle stood in the clearing, recognizing it as the one from her dream. The scene wasn't exactly the same, but she hadn't seen the before, only the after. "Oh no," she whispered.

Raine looked at her worriedly, but didn't say anything, because at that moment, Ayumu and a couple demon-possessed Hunters came through the trees silently. They circled around the small group, grinning widely and chuckling.

"Oh yes," Ayumu drawled. "Anything look familiar to you, dear?"

Clenching her fists angrily, Noelle glared at Ayumu, grabbing her gun tightly, refusing to let him have the upper hand. "It's not going to happen. Besides, we can easily take you and your possessed army." She pulled her gun out and aimed it at him in a casual threat.

Ayumu chuckled lightly and shook his head mockingly. "Oh love, you have a lot to learn. You see, you can't make threats unless," he motioned at the trees behind him, "you have all the cards." Hadrian, along with a couple other men walked out with the rest of the women from the house at knifepoint.
