Dear Kyle,

I read a book this morning. It was about a girl who got taken away from her own home and had to stay with her grandparents. There was this one word in it. It was a really sad part. Melancholy. I didn't know what it was so I looked it up and copied and pasted it here.

Melancholy

[mel-uh n-kol-ee]

noun, plural melancholies.

a gloomy state of mind, especially when habitual or prolonged; depression.

adjective

affected with, characterized by, or showing melancholy; mournful; depressed:

a melancholy mood.

Because some of the words didn't make sense, I Googled them, too. It basically meant that you were really really sad. Isn't that funny, Kyle? It sounds like what I'm feeling like right now.

Your best friend,

Amy
