Heather was at her locker putting away a couple of books, when Patrick strode over to her. "So are you and Mark dating?"

"Why?"

"I know you like me, Heather."

She turned to face him. "I liked you in like fifth grade. Somehow, I moved on."

"Are you with Mark?"

"That's not really your business."

"Well I would be surprised if you were. I can't see you dating someone."

"What's that supposed to mead?"

"You're Heather." Heather just stared at him. "Heather," he said again. "You know, you don't date people."

"I date," she said a little defiantly.

"Okay, whatever you say." He said and walked away.

"What was that about?" Mark asked, walking over to her.

"Nothing."

"Do you want to come over for dinner sometime? My mom's actually cooking tomorrow night."

"I can't," she started to think of an excuse.

"Are you avoiding Taylor?"

"What? No."

"I just figured you could use some cheering up. My mom makes a really good meatloaf."

"Tempting," she smiled.

"Think about it."

"Okay," she said as Mark began to walk away.

He turned to face her again. "I don't think she will even be home tomorrow."

"Okay," Heather said again.

Hannah, Taylor, and Ethan walked along the hallway in a row. "Are you busy tomorrow Ethan?" Hannah asked.

"I don't think so, why?"

"My mom is making meatloaf. Wanna come for dinner?"

"Maybe. Are you going to be there Taylor?"

Taylor looked at each one that was on either side of her. "I don't know. Why?"

"You love meatloaf," Hannah said simply.

"What's going on?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean: it seems like you guys have planned out this conversation. And why are we walking this way?"

"No reason," Ethan lied.

Taylor stopped walking when she saw Heather at her locker. "Is that why?"

"No," the other two said quickly.

"I thought we were dropping this? Is she coming over or something?" Hannah looked at the ground. "Why are you doing this?"

"You just seemed happy when you guys were talking," Ethan stepped in.

"I really don't want to talk about this anymore. And I really mean it," Taylor said before walking in the other direction from the other two.

Heather walked over to Mark who was getting a drink from the water fountain. "Does Taylor know you invited me?"

"What?" He asked standing back up straight.

"Did you tell Taylor, that I may be coming over tomorrow?"

"Uh..."

"I'll take that as a 'no'. I will be the mature one and accept your invitation to come. But I won't if Taylor is going to be there, and does not know I will."
