Taylor walked over to her usual table to see Hannah and Ethan sitting next to each other. "What are you guys doing?"
"Nothing," Hannah said glancing at her.
"Why are you sitting on that side?"
"We can't both sit here?" Ethan looked at her confused.
"I don't like this side."
"Why?"
"I don't want to look at them," she gestured a little at the table a little that had Mark and the rest of the group.
Hannah and Ethan turned and then looked back to see Taylor sitting down. "You mean you don't want to look at her." Ethan said knowingly.
"Because you feel bad about what you said, and you do like her," Hannah added.
"That is so not true. I just find most of them annoying. Like today in chemistry, one of them was bothering me about how to do really basic stuff."
"And you like Heather," Ethan added.
"I do not."
"Here she comes," Hannah whispered. Her and Ethan watched Heather walk in and continued as discretely as possible as she sat down next to Julie. "What are you doing?" Hannah asked, seeing that Taylor was staring down at her food.
"Hmm? Nothing." Taylor said as casually as she could.
"You like her," Ethan added.
"Can we please just drop this?" Taylor wiped her face with her hands as Ethan and Hannah exchanged glances.
Heather sat down across from Mark who was taking a sip of his water. She looked around the restaurant; she didn't know what to say to him that could explain why she had been so weird at the dance. "I'm sorry about the dance," she finally said.
"You're sorry?"
"I wasn't really there. Like I wanted to be, and you are a great guy, but my head wasn't there. I'm sorry if you didn't have a good time."
"It's okay. I could tell that you weren't really there, but I didn't know what to say."
"Thanks," she smiled at him.
"I know what happened."
"What?" Her face went blank.
"Well I heard Taylor's side of the whole thing."
"I didn't know you knew about that." She looked down at her hands.
"I just found out. If I had known about it earlier, I don't know if I would be hanging out with you as much."
"Whatever happened with Taylor was over before I started talking to you. Besides I wasn't even sure it was your sister until the dance."
"I'm not mad about any of this?"
"You're not?"
"No," he shrugged. "I just wanted to tell you that I understand why you were weird at the dance and that I'm not mad about it."
"You're a really good guy Mark. And I like you,"
"Just not like that." Heather nodded. "It's okay. Seriously, I'm not upset about it."
"You sure?" Mark nodded. "Well your sister hates me."
"She can be a little over dramatic, but I don't think she actually hates you."
"I think she does. I can't blame her though, pretty much everything she said about me was right."
"You can't take anything she says too personally, Taylor tends to avoid getting close with people."
