Taylor sat down next to Ethan and began to eat her sandwich as Hannah sat down across from them. Ethan and Hannah started to talk about the football game from the previous day while Taylor continued to eat in silence.
"What's up with you?" Ethan asked glancing over at her.
"Every day for like two months you asked me about that girl. Today is the first time you don't, and today is the first time I have a story."
Ethan and Hannah's mouths dropped open and Hannah dropped the chip in her hand. "Well go on," Ethan said.
"You were right Ethan."
"So you were flirting with Heather Prescott?"
"How did you find out?" Hannah asked.
"She talked to me at the dance."
"She talked to you?" Ethan asked surprised. "She asked if you were the one she talked to?"
"Pretty much," Taylor nodded.
"And what happened? Did she ask you out?"
"We didn't get to that."
"Wait what?" Hannah asked. "You didn't..." she started.
"No, we argued."
"Why would you argue with her?" Ethan asked.
"You need to stop putting her on a pedestal. Look: she got pissed that I didn't really response after I found out we lived in the same town."
"I still can't believe you did that."
"It was pretty bitchy," Hannah added. "So what happened?"
"I think we ended with me calling her a bitch."
"Taylor!" Both of them said at the same time.
"Look she was being one; she was talking to me while at the dance with our brother. That's a bitchy thing. And I didn't think it was right."
"Did you tell Mark?" Hannah asked as Ethan mumbled to himself.
"Tell him what?"
"I mean he was on a date with her at the time."
"I doubt it impacted the date except for the three minutes she was away. I affected him as much as her bladder would have."
"Tay," Hannah started.
"If it impacted his date, then I will tell him everything; but if I didn't, why should I? He really seems to like her. And maybe she is a good person around him. Which would be great, but I don't want to be the one to ruin this whole thing."
"I just can't believe you turned her down," Ethan said.
"I didn't turn her down."
"You know what I mean, Taylor. You probably could have had the hottest girl in this school. And you blew it."
"I didn't blow it; this is all her fault."
"You were the one that stopped talking to her, it kind of is your fault."
"It doesn't even matter. Do you really think she'd start dating me if she knew who that it was me?"
"We won't ever know," Hannah responded.
"Which is for the best. You guys have been more invested in this whole thing than I ever was."
"You just seemed so happy."
There was a knock on Taylor's bedroom. She minimized the Internet browser and walked over to it. Mark was standing, holding his laptop. "Mind if I use your printer? I'm out of ink."
