Mark sat down at the dinner table and grabbed the bowl of bread from Hannah's hands. "Where have you been?" Hannah asked angrily.

"I was talking to a girl." Mark said casually. Hannah and Taylor rolled their eyes. "Hey, I am very close to asking her to homecoming."

"Who is it?" Taylor asked taking the bread from him.

"Heather Prescott," Mark said proudly.

"Really?" Ellen asked looking up from her phone.

"Yeah, we got pizza last weekend and have been talking since."

"That's really cool." Hannah said.

"Yeah," Taylor said slowly. "When did you get pizza with her?"

"Last Sunday, I was there and then she came. She seemed stressed out; I think it was about the philosophy paper. Why?"

"No reason," Taylor said quickly, only to get a look from Hannah.

"Well you two would be a really nice couple." Ellen said her eyes back down at her phone.

"Thanks mom," Mark said a little awkwardly. Hannah continued to look at Taylor who was picking at her food.

There was a knock on Taylor's door and then Hannah walked in. "What's the deal with you and Heather Prescott? I know you don't really like her, but..." her voice trailed off.

"You wouldn't believe me."

"Try me." Hannah sat down at the edge of Taylor's bed.

"That girl I was talking to that weekend, her name's Heather. I knew she lived in California, but when I asked her, she said she lived here. Ethan's almost positive that it was Heather Prescott."

"Wait, you and Heather Prescott were flirting?"

"We weren't flirting, we were just talking."

"Non-stop, all day? You liked the girl didn't you?"

"It doesn't matter." Taylor walked away.

"Why? It seemed like you liked her."

"It's complicated, I mean how do I know what she said was true? She could have been bsing me the whole time."

"Does she know that it's you?"

Taylor turned to look at Hannah. "No, and she never will."

"Why? That girl seemed to like you, who care if it is Heather Prescott? You haven't talked to her since, have you?"

"Why should I?"

"You seemed to really like this girl."

"Well now I'm over it."

"No you aren't, I can tell."

"I'm not talking about this anymore."

"Whatever," Hannah said and then she walked out of Taylor's room. Taylor flopped down on her bed and began to reread the messages between her and Heather.

Ethan, Hannah, and Taylor were almost at school when Hannah finally said: "Taylor told me."

"Told you what?" Ethan asked glancing over at Hannah.

"That the girl she was messaging was Heather Prescott."

"We don't know that for sure," Taylor cut in.

"It totally is her." Ethan said, ignoring Taylor's comment.

"It makes sense; I mean when I've been at her house, she was probably on her laptop the whole time. Just like this one." Hannah added, elbowing Taylor.
