Megan and Liam's Day

Start from the beginning

"And I told you we didn't. Now go away." I say tightly.

"Don't make this difficult Nutmeg." He says, placing a hand by my head.

"Don't call me that." I say didacticly.

"Then talk to me." He demands.

"What is there to talk about?" I ask.

"Us." He suggests, waving a hand between us.

"There is no 'us'. There should have never been an 'us'." I say, doing the same gesture.

"Yes there is. You know there is." He says, convincing nobody but himself.

"No. You ruined that when you slept with Sarah." I say as the memory burns into my brain. I went over to his flat on Valentine's day to give him his gift only to find Sarah, the captain of the cheer squad, straddling him. Half naked.

"That was one mistake baby. Please, I need you." He says dramatically.

"Don't call me 'baby' or 'babe' or anything. Just don't talk to me. Is that really that hard?" I ask, trying to turn around.

"Yes, it is. It really is. Now please, come back to my place with me." He says, tugging at my wrists.

"Are you crazy? Do you really think that can fix everything? All the things you said to me after that. All the things you did to me." I say astonished.

"Come on. We can talk at my place." He says, tugging me with more force.

"No Matt. I moved on. I found someone else and you should too. There's someone out there for all of us. We-" I say, gesturing between us, "don't belong together. It just won't work."

"Y-You moved on?" He stutters.

"Yea." I lie, "I did. He makes me happy Matt. If you really want me to be happy you would leave me alone and let me be."

"Who is he?" He asks, his anger building up, "is it that Kyle kid in your maths class? I see how he looks at you. Or maybe Chris."

"No. He doesn't even go to school here." I say quietly.

"Yea? What's he like?" He implores.

"He's polite, nice, fun. He treats me right. He's the perfect match for me." I say with a smile.

"What's he look like?" Matt asks, getting annoyed.

"He has short light brown hair. Naturally curly but he straightens it sometimes. He works out. He has the kindest smile. He has soft brown eyes. He's tall. He has the cutest little birth mark. He looks like a lost puppy when he thinks too hard and he's about as scary as one too." I say, ending up with a big smile plastered to my face.

"Well, I hope you're happy. But I'm not gonna stop trying." Matt says, bringing me out of my thoughts. He turns around and walks away. I let out a breath and get into my car. I drive to Starbucks and get in my uniform. I clock in and start work thinking about one thing and one thing only. I just explained my made up perfect boyfriend to Matt. But, I gave a full description of Liam.

-After work-

Hey. Just got off work. Start heading over.

I text Laney. I drive home and walk inside. I go to my room and change into something comfy. A few minutes later I hear the doorbell ring. I jog down the hall to the front door. I open it and Laney comes in with a luggage bag.

"Landlord kick you out again?" I ask, shutting the door behind her.

"Yup." She says casually.

"Ya know. You'd think he'd learn his lesson by now." I say, walking to my room. Her landlord has kicked her out so many times it's crazy. But in the end, he always tells her to come back. He's insane.
