I sat beneath the tree for the next 15 minutes just looking up at the stars. My mother used to tell me that each star represents someone's wish. That every shooting star lands somewhere.

Flashback

I'm 5 years old.

I laid in my mother's lap as we looked up at the stars. We were sitting on a blanket in our back yard.

"Mommy, what are stars?" I asked in my squeaky 5 year old voice

"Well the scientists say that their planets, but I think that their just people wishes. When theirs a shooting star people wish for something they hope for. Then their wish turns into a star and lays somewhere. Then when people look up at the stars at night they're looking at people's wishes." she said in my ear holding me tighter

Just then a shooting star appeared in the sky

"Make a wish" she whispered

I closed my eyes and scrunched up my nose and made a wish "I wish to have a happily ever after" I thought

"Did you make a wish?" my mom asked

I nodded my head

"Good, but don't tell anyone or the star will die and it will never come true." mom said

I sighed and rested my head on her shoulder.

"I love you, mommy" I whispered but loud enough for her to hear

"I love you, too Cal"

End of Flashback

I felt a tear run down my cheek as I reminded that memory. My mother taught me the meaning of stars. Obviously I know what stars are really, but when I look at stars I don't see a whole bunch of stars I see a whole bunch of people's wishes just waiting to come true. I guess my star is still out in the sky just waiting for it become true.

"Beautiful, huh" I jumped in shock as a boy around my age sat next to me under the tree

"Yeah" I said

"You must be Callie, I'm Brandon. I'm Stef's biological son." He said

"Cool"

He turned his attention back to the stars. "A whole bunch of planets filling the air." He said

I chuckled "No it's not"

"Of course it is. Stars are planets." He said

"Not the way I was taught"

"Well how were you taught?" he chuckled

"Well I do know that technically they are planets, but to me they're wishes"

"Wishes?" he asked

"When I was 5, my mom said that each star represents someone's wish. That when they see a shooting star and make a wish, that wish becomes a star and lands somewhere in the sky. Then it just waits until one day it becomes true." I explained

"Wow, I've never thought of that" he chuckled

"Every now and then ill just sit outside, usually when I'm down or something, and ill just look up at the stars and imagine what each stars wish is. Ill always wonder when it's going to come true"

"Have you made a wish?" he asked

"Yeah, but it hasn't come true yet. Sometimes ill wonder when my star will come true. Have you ever made a wish?"

"Yeah, and I guess it's already come true"

"What was your wish?" I asked

"I'm not telling you" he said grinning "that's bad luck"

I chuckled we just sat there.

"Brandon! Callie! Time for dinner!" I heard Lena yell from inside

Brandon stood up then held out his hand for me. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up. I let go of his hand as we walked to the back door. Before we went inside he stopped me

"Thank you" he said

"For what?" I asked

"Teaching me what are star really is"

I smiled and nodded while saying "Your welcome. You can't go on in life not knowing the stars real identity" I chuckled as he did the same

"Of course I can't that would have been horrible"

We laughed for a couple more seconds then he said we should go in. I nodded as we walked to the kitchen. I don't know why, but I feel like Brandon is worth trusting.

No way I aunt repeat Liam. He's the whole reason I don't have Jude anymore.

But I feel like Brandon is different. After all I did teach him the true identity of the stars in the night sky.

Thank you mom for telling me the real meaning of stars
