Chapter 29

Alicia Clark.

I open my eyes and try to get up my but my hands are tied to the bed I'm laying on.

I immediately look around.

My mom is laying down on the ground below me. Her face looks wet from tears.

"Mom."

She stirs a little.

"Mom."

She open her eyes and looks at me. She sighs with relief.

"Oh thank god. You okay."

She unties my hands and I get stand up but I'm dizzy so I fall right back down.

"Maybe you should try a little slower sweetie."

I close my eyes and Try to process what has just happened.

Strand walks in.

"Hey good you okay. Madison, Nick wants to see you."

My mom shakes her head and looks back at me and then leaves.

A moment of familiarity runs through my mind.

I get up slower this time and use the wall to my aid.

I make it out of the prison and I see Elyza killing walkers at the fence.

I look around Ofelia is on the other side killing walkers. Strand is purifying water nearby.

I walk Down to Elyza.

"Hey" I say weakly.

She turns to me takes a step near me as if she was going to hug me but then she steps back. A wave of disappointment floods over me.

"How are you?"

I look down at the ground and back at her.

"I'm good."

She looks out at the woods.

"Last time we left these gates you got hurt....You wanna go for a walk? I promise this time you won't get hurt?"

I shake my head yes and smile.
