Finishing my last round at work, I walk to the NICU to see the baby I've been caring for since he was brought in.

"Hi little guy" I murmured walking to his incubator to see him sleeping. He was getting stronger as time passes and I'm hoping that he'll be strong enough to be able to breath on his own but as of now he's hooked to a breathing machine.

"You need a name, hm, I can't keep calling you baby boy or baby all the time" I whispered "what do you think of Bennet Asher?"

Smiling as I felt him move, I rubbed his little hand that held my pointer finger

"I guess you like those huh?" I asked with a  grin, making a mental note to let the head nurse of this department know that he has a name now.

"I'll see you tomorrow Bennett, I love you little guy" I murmured before leaving the NICU after checking his vitals one last time.

"I've decided on what his name will be" I told Jenna who raised her brow but nodded nonetheless

"It's Bennett Asher" I added making her nod and write it down on her clipboard

"He still doesn't have a last name" she pointed out and I nodded

"He'll have mine. I'm going to be adopting him. I already spoke with the social worker and she's helping me finalize the paperwork to be his legal guardian" I explained and she smiled

"That's wonderful doctor, I'm glad" she said and I smiled thanking her before letting her know that my phone will be on at all times and if anything happened to call me to which she nodded to before we bid each other a goodnight and went our separate ways.

I've been thinking of adopting him ever since he was brought in and I've spoken with Uncle Allen and he was beyond thrilled with the news that he even offered to turn one of the guest rooms into a nursery for him for when Bennett gets better and is able to leave the hospital. Casey was also happy with the news talking about all the things he'll teach him when he's older.

As I walked out of the hospital I froze in my tracks as I looked at that the two people who have made my life hell since I was orphaned. Rachel and John McCann. My mother's sister and brother in law.

As I walked towards my car, where they were standing by, I unlocked the doors causing them to jump and look up. I clenched my jaw as I approached them and saw them smile making me roll my eyes

"What are you doing here?" I asked and John smiled

"Can't we visit our favorite niece?" Rachel asked and I narrowed my eyes with a scoff

"Cut the crap. What the fuck are you doing here?" I snapped and they clenched their jaws and narrowed their eyes before looking at each other and nodding their heads

"We need money" John said making me laugh with a shake of my head

"And you expect me to give it to you?" I asked with a chuckle

"As your only living relatives, we are entitled to some money" Rachel stated making me yet again laugh

"God that's rich" I said with a chuckle "you're untitled to nothing. You honestly think that I would give you money after the hell you made me go through while living with you?"

"We have the right to have your money" John hissed

"You have no right to anything from me and before you even think of threatening me, think twice before you do it. Don't ever come to my work and demand money from me because that's the last thing I'll ever give you. I'd rather be dead then hand you a penny" I said before getting into my car and closing the door but lowers the window
