I woke up next to him. I was hungry, and I was thirsty. I sat up, and today it hurt like hell..but not too bad. I could walk..slowly.

I got up and headed towards the kitchen. I started making breakfast and the door flew open. Parker. I grabbed a knife and held it in front of me.

"You dumb bitch," he smirked.

I couldn't talk still, probably because my throat was so dry.

He walked closer to me and I held the knife out in front of me. He stopped and smirked before quickly grabbing my wrist. He squeezed and I dropped the knife. He hit my face and I fell to the ground. He kicked me several times and then left. I struggled to stand up but soon I was able to. I continued to cook and got a drink. I tried to talk and I was able to. The tears fell down my face and seen the food was ready. I set it out on the table and walked to the bathroom. I cleaned the blood off of my face and the bruise was noticeable. I was dreading when Austin would wake up and see me like this. He would hate himself for not waking up. He would not want to even be around me, he might get so angry and upset that he leaves. I heard the door open and heard him walk down the stairs.

"Babe?" he asked.

"In the bathroom," I shook.

He walked in and stopped instantly. I looked down and away from him.

"What happened?" he asked.

I just shook my head because I didn't want him to know.

"What happened?" he asked more strictly.

"Parker," I said, "he came in here and did this. Then he left."

"Why didn't you scream for help or something?" he asked.

"Because my throat was dry," I said.

"I knew I shouldn't have gone to sleep," he sighed, "I knew I should have just stayed awake with you."

"stop," I shook, "please."

I walked over to him and he just looked at me. I set my hands on his cheeks.

"There was nothing you could have done," I shook, "okay? please don't leave."

"Why?" he asked, "why do you even want me here? I can't even protect you Skylar. You have no use for me."

"Now you stop it!" I snapped, "you have protected me more times than I can count! You have saved me and I can never repay you for that. Please never tell me that I have no use for you. But Austin you are sorta right. I will never 'use' you for anything..I won't ever just use you. I need you."

He just looked at me and then looked away. I set my hands on his jawline and I set my forehead against his.

"I love you," I said, "you don't go anywhere and I won't either. I need you here, and you need your sleep. You need to sleep."

"If I would have stayed awake I would have been able to protect you," he pulled away, "if I would have followed you the other day to the living room I would have been able to protect you. If-

"No," I shook, "you need your sleep and that is final Austin! You were cooking breakfast..you didn't know it was going to happen Austin! So stop blaming yourself! I got out from hiding so I could protect you! That was my choice! There was nothing you could have done about it!"

He wrapped his arms around me and I wrapped mine around him.

"I'm sorry," he shook, "I am so sorry."

I held him in my arms and ran my fingers throughout his hair.

"Everything is okay," I said, "I am okay, and you are okay."
