Hello all. It's been awhile, hasn't it? I say on hiatus because that's pretty much what I go on after every single chapter XD I can really relate to Marin in this chapter. On another note, I've finally found an anime after a very long time that I am super invested in. But a lot of you don't care about anime, so I'll stop now.

Marin had decided that enough was enough.

He hadn't wanted to admit it... But it was time to stop. Adrien was probably getting annoyed by how he had to come over to translate whenever Uncle Wang or his other his distant relatives came to visit. Yes, it was time.

He was going to have to actually learn Chinese.

Marin gulped as he set down the ominous mountain of Chinese language learning books on one of the shiny wooden tables in the library. Cautiously, he picked out the ones that were written by people with distinctly un-chinese last names (because as a general rule, when white people write Asian language learning books, there's going to be stuff lost in translation), leaving a slightly smaller but still considerable pile. He took a deep breath and opened the first book.

[Time skip brought by "Wait, already?" Man, what a sucky author]

Marin... was dead. He had written every single character in the first eight pages on his inner forearm. '你好吗?... 我很好。谢谢。... 你呢?... 我也很好。...' and other characters swirled around his brain as he tried to memorize them. He laid on the table, staring down his character covered arm at his lucky pen, one that Adrien had lent to him. It was a beautiful pen, deep red and black spots, with a pretty crimson ink that flowed out in thick lines of shining scarlet. When Marin had gratefully held the pen back out to Adrien, he had laughed saying,

"Oh, it's fine, just take it! I've got about a gazillion pens from my dad anyway!"

"Um... A-are you sure?" Marin thought he heard a note of bitterness in Adrien's voice...

"Yeah! Treat it well, okay? It's a good pen," Adrien had said cheerfully, casting one last wistful glance at the pen before his face brightened again.

"Well... thank you very much. I'll take really good care of it!" Marin smiled. Was it just his imagination, or had Adrien's cheeks turned a little pink? Naw, he must've just been so desperate for Adrien to like him that he was seeing things. Alyn cast a knowing smirk to Nino- who stared back utterly clueless. Dropping the smirk, Alyn rolled his eyes. Hm. Wonder what that was all about.

The loudspeaker crackled overhead, and the receptionist spoke in a careful voice, "Attention all visitors. The library will be closing in 15 minutes. If you need a library card, please come to the front desk. Please arrange for a ride at this time." Marin slowly lifted his head off the table, stretching, and picked up the stack of books to check out. As he slowly plodded home, he suddenly remembered that he hadn't done any of his homework. And it was 8:30 PM.

[Wha- Another Timeskip!? The crap is wrong witchu... Jeez, this author's hopeless smh]

Marin woke blearily, his alarm clock screaming for him to wake up, it was time for school. He blinked at the clock. 6:30. So he had slept for three hours... He sighed. It was just another day in the life of Marin Dupain-Cheng. Just another two hours short of sleep. Groggily, he went through the motions of the morning. Shower, clothes, a breakfast of leftover tartines with apricot jam, coffee, and a sugary cookie to give him a little extra energy for the morning, and one in his bag for later, he brushed his teeth and was off. He did not once look into the mirror (lol somehow).

"Morning Marin!" Alyn's chipper voice revived Marin a little as he neared the doors of the school.

"Hm? Morning, Alyn..." he replied sleepily, turning with zombie like jerks.
