Chatpurr 4- Repaying the Favor

What a fail, what a fail... Haha. This was going to be a normal chapter, then I thought it was too short, so it was going to be an extra, then I ended up spewing crap again, so now it's longer than most of the previous chapters... smh. Hope you like it anyway.

"It's just for today. We will be driving Mr. Agreste to an extremely important convention and I'll also need to be there to manage his schedule, so you'll get to walk home. Don't think it will ever happen again. Go straight home, you hear? There are dangerous people on the streets of the poor." Nathalie scowled.

Adrien grinned, his eyes lighting up with excitement, while a small part of him thought, 'It's pretty sad that I'm excited to be walking home...'

"Thank you, Nathalie! You won't regret it! I promise I'll go straight home!"

'This is the chance of a lifetime! There's no way I'm going straight home!...''

Adrien had been begging his dad to let him walk to and from school since the beginning of the year. It was just really, super awkward to step out of a limo to see dozens of kids staring at him, whispering, watching his every move to see what he would do next...

And then there was Chael Bourgeois. Where to even begin... When they first met, Adrien had thought that Chael was pretty cool. He brought with him so much knowledge of the outside world. The real world, not the superficial wonderland his father had created for him. Well, if a dead, empty mansion and being surrounded by people who were only there to do their job could be considered 'wonderland.' But he knew that he had it much better than most other kids. He didn't really want for anything, other than an occasional sign from his father that he still loved him. Chael opened his eyes to so many new and different things, even if it was only in the company of other rich kids. It was only when Adrien first came to school that his eyes were truly open.

Who knew Chael was such a jerk!? Using his wealth and influence to extort others into doing what he wanted, using Sabrina (Who must've been in love with him. Why else would she go so far for someone like him?) as a personal slave, and just being a terrible person in general to everyone around him, especially Marin and Alyn. What did he have against them? They were such nice people! Alyn loved Ladybug! That automatically meant he was a good person!

And Marin... Marin was just amazing. Even though Adrien practically had everything made for him, Marin had still accomplished so much more than he had. He was a naturally talented fashion designer, got good grades (except for the period-of-time-which-shalt-not-be-spoken-of), was kind to everyone, even Chael up to a point, was such a great artist that even Jagged Stone himself asked him to illustrate the cover of his new CD, great at baking, and he was even good at video games! He was the kind of guy Adrien aspired to be. Or maybe, if he was a girl, he'd be the perfect wife... Whoa. Those were some weird thoughts. What was that? Ladybug was the only one for him!

'Pull yourself together, Adrien!'

"Hey, it's Adrien!" a voice pulled him from his strange thoughts, "Where's Nathalie and the gorilla? They didn't chauffeur you to school today? What a surprise, what a surprise..." Adrien turned red, glaring at Alyn, embarrassed.

"I-it's not like I don't have legs! They were busy today. I'm sure that I'll be able to walk to school more often, maybe!"

'Ah! Marin's here, too. Of course he is. They always come to school together, it's not like it's any surprise...' he glanced at Marin, remembering the thoughts he'd had earlier, when their eyes met.

'Adrien looks so cute when he's blushing... Just one more peek. For my mental photo album.' He looked up to find Adrien gazing at him... And immediately looked back down.

'He was staring at me. Do I have something on my face? Or maybe he can hear my heart beating. Shut up, heart! Shut up!'

'Yep.' Adrien thought, 'If he was a girl, he'd make the perfect wife.'

When school ended, it was pouring. Adrien stared out the open doors of the school in horror.

'NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! How could this happen!? On the one day I'm allowed to walk, it rains! I really am unlucky!"

"Plagg, this is all your fault!" Adrien cried with despair.

"Hey kid, don't blame it on me. Blame it on the weather," Plagg responded apathetically from his warm, dry nest in Adrien's bag. Plus it had cheese.

'*Sigh...* Nothing for it but to walk home. It could be worse, I guess.' He stepped outside.

"Adrien?" a familiar voice startled him, "Did you forget your umbrella today?"

"Ahahaha... Yeah... What a day to get rained out on, huh?" Marin laughed.

"No kidding...! Here, take mine today!" He shuffled around in his bag and pulled out a black umbrella with large red dots.

"Wha? No, I couldn't. You'd get rained on. I'd feel bad."

"Don't worry about it! I like the rain, actually!" When I'm not Ladybug... "Anyways, I owe you one, for that day when you lent me your umbrella... Do you still remember that?"

That day. The day Marin had begun to fall for the kind and gentle blonde boy. The first time he had ever experienced the feeling called love...

"Ah! I remember that day! That was the first day I came to school, and that whole misunderstanding with the chewing gum... You really seemed to hate me!" Adrien said cheerfully.

Urk. Marin blushed, welling up with a kind of shame. If only he could go back in time and swallow his words! Maybe Adrien would like him better!

"Haha! Well, consider this as me repaying the favor for that day. See ya tomorrow, Adrien," he turned and waved, and quickly walking away without trying to make it seem like he was trying to quickly walk away.

Adrien watched Marin's figure quickly disappear into the raindrops.

'Dang, he has long legs,' Adrien mused, a little speechless by Marin's sudden and casually dramatic exit.

Adrien ended up going straight home.
