Ch 6

~•~Bradley's POV~•~

Adrenaline rushed into my veins, pumping quickly. Readying myself for the already started fight.

Jade swung with a hard force, but I easily ducked the strike as he swiped the air. Circling each other, he threw another punch toward me. Again he missed.

Watching his movement after both blows, I only had a split second to think. Lashing out to the still circling Jade, I smacked him in the jaw. That's not exactly where I was aiming. At least I hit my target.

He didn't flinch. His face held an unreadable mask, yet I saw a spark of pain flicker in his eyes before determination flooded his posture and he flew at me again.

I jumped out of the way milliseconds before his hand reached empty air to where I was standing just seconds ago. A dry laugh left my mouth. "You really think you could beat me? Seriously? I've survived on the streets for years," I sneered.

"You think you're the only one who has been through a rough time. You're wrong."

The fight had stopped. We were in a stare down. All I could hear was the breaths I was taking. Trying to make them even and smooth.

Before I knew it, I felt the blacktop against my face as pressure increased on my head. Jade stood above me. "See what I said. I know how to fight; I'm just as good as you."

Laughter consumed the crowd around us. My breaths came in shallow pants. Standing up shakily, I regained my breath looking into Jade's eyes which were filled with dark humor.

"Bradley!" someone called from behind me, but I didn't need to turn around to know who it was, Lily.

My eyes slipped closed as white light flash against them, blinding me. New energy surged through me in quick short spurt.

"Who ever said I gave up?" I asked.

"Bradley, don't." Another voice rang from the crowd.

My fingers tensed, rolling into a fist. Anger boiled my blood. I refused to be weak. The armor I've built around myself was stronger than this fight. Giving him all I had, I threw a deafening blow, to the gut, which hit, sending Jade doubling over. But he didn't miss a beat. Turning quickly, Jade hooked one leg behind my feet; consequently, hurling me to the ground. Yet I broke my sprawl by rolling swiftly to land back on my feet, with just enough room to regain my balance.

Hands grabbed my shoulders before I could lunge back at Jade, enveloping me in the crowd. "What do you think you doing?" I whispered harshly, turning my head to see a splash of blonde hair.

"Saving your ass," Lily murmured. Her breath licked my face in a warm wind.

Uprooting her grasp, I threw myself through the disappearing crowd. A punch greeted me, cracking my neck as my head snapped in an odd direction. Clasping behind my back, my hand were locked in an unbreakable grip. Another gut-wrenching blow landed on me, as I was helpless.

"Leave him out of it," Lily called from behind me, "It's between you and me, not Bradley."

"Well, are you suggesting that we're dating again because if you are, I'll gladly let him go."

"Lily, what-" A strike busted my lip as blood trickled down my chin.

"Now you were saying?" Jade sneered, just as Lily yelled, "Leave him out of it!"

My mouth felt glued shut, full of dry cotton, in a sandpaper way.

"You're mine," he growled.
