Chapter 21

ONP 21: Hot in Red

I woke up when I felt the sun rays striking through my face. The first thing I noticed was me being alone in the bed.

Maingat akong bumangon at saglit na isinandal ang aking ulo sa head board. Agad naman akong sinalubong ng malamig na simoy ng hangin.

Iniwan sigurong nakabukas ni Khyfer ang glass panel nang mauna siyang gumising kaya naman mas malinaw kong nakikita ang hampas ng alon sa dagat ngayon. Birds keep chirping like telling me to go out and walk through the white sand.

Ito ang unang araw ko rito sa Aquarii at dapat ay hindi ako mabagot dito. I heave out a sigh. Umalis na ako sa kama at naghilamos. Kakain lang ako ng umagahan bago ako maglakad sa labas at para mag-swimming na rin.

As I made my way through the dining, naabutan ko si Khyfer na nagkakape habang nasa unahan niya ang isang Mcbook. Mabilis lang niya akong sinulyapan.

"Good morning," he greeted me.

"Good morning, too. What's for breakfast?" I asked.

He stopped keeping himself busy on his laptop and faced me. Wala kasi akong nakikitang pagkain sa mesa.

"You can tell Valeria what you want to eat now, hinintay lang kita magising para alam ko ang ihahain niya sa atin para sa breakfast," He answered.

I raised my brow for that unexpected answer. From the wall clock that says 7:15 in the morning, I think I have a good day to start. Mukhang hindi naman ako totally isang preso dito dahil mukhang ako ang nasusunod sa pagkain.

Tinawag niya si Valeria at agad itong nagpunta sa amin. Nag-isip na ako agad ng pagkain para sa aming umagahan.

"I see," I snapped back before I tell what I want to the maid. "Bacon, scramble egg, tuyo, and fried rice. Hmmm . . . milk for me too. Thanks,"

"Masusunod po, Signora . . ."

I can't help but look beyond the shore. This private island has a perfect spot for different water activities. Yesterday, mula sa malayo ay maliit lang ang islang ito kumpara sa ibang isla rito sa Maldives pero maganda dito sa Aquarii dahil eco-friendly and the electricity were coming from the solar panel installed on the roof and beside the house.

"How was your sleep?"

Nilingon ko si Khyfer sa tanong niya. "Better, nabawi ko ang pagod ko mula sa biyahe kahapon."

"That's good to hear. At least my decision of not waking you up earlier was right." He took another sip of his coffee before pushing his laptop aside.

I snide a smile to that. Another impressive move from him. How I wish this would be ongoing.

"So, tell me, what happens next?" I asked him what will happen to me here.

He frowned. "You can go swimming at the beach, ride a yacht, or—"

"That's not what I meant. Hindi habambuhay ikukulong mo ako rito," putol ko.

I can consider being here for at least nine months, but for as long as he wants, I don't know? It's not good for me. I still have my life in the Philippines, and I have my company to run and family to look back.

Hindi ko pwedeng takasan o pagtaguan na lang ang lahat doon. I owe an explanation to anyone, especially to Bryce.

"I am letting you do what you want in here. Is that what you call locking you on this island?"

Okay, now this jerk has full sarcasm towards me! This is bullshit!

I scoffed in disbelief. I don't want to ruin this day ahead by just engaging myself in another nonsense fight with him.
