The resounding rap of manicured fingernails on the desk irritated Albus, and he inhaled sharply. Polly Chapman glanced over, raising a plucked eyebrow. "Something wrong, Potter?"
He ignored her snide tone, and focused on the professor at the front. The weekend had rushed by, leaving a week of late nights and grumpiness left for Albus to endure.
His mind drifted off, lingering on the warmth of Scorpius' hand as they laughed at the top of the castle, having just narrowly escaped falling into the gap between the stairs and the floor...
But he couldn't concentrate on that. The memory would give him false hope, only ending in tears and heartbreak.
Or so he thought.
