I was dumbfounded once I saw Hailee's expression. She had a huge smile upon her lips, yet she had tears streaming down her face. I was too nervous and scared to look at her while I was singing. And even if I did look, I surely would've messed up.

I instinctively wrapped my arms around her and rubbed circles on her back. "Hey, hey. Don't cry. I hate seeing you cry"

After a few sniffles, Hailee finally spoke up. "But they're happy tears. Your song is absolutely beautiful, Shawn. I love it. Whoever that girl you're writing about is, she is so lucky to have you."

I smiled shyly and replied "you must be one lucky girl then."

She looked lost for a second, and then her face turned a bright shade of pink, and I'm sure mine did too. I can't believe I grew the balls to say that.

"Oh my gosh, Shawn. Thank you so much. Genuinely. Thank you so much. I love it I absolutely love it. Thank you." She repeated over and over.

"You're welcome. I loved writing it." I replied.

A few beats of silence later, I decided to speak up again.

"Hailee. Can I also ask you a question?" I asked while scratching the back of my neck.

"Yeah. What is it?" She asked quietly.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" I asked.

I guess I was ballsier than I expected tonight.
