Tanya's P.O.V.

It had been a year since Jesse's family had invited me over for their family reuinion. It had not gone well at all. Long story short, Jesse's mom had banned both him and I from all the other family get togethers. I felt horrible, getting Jesse banned and all, but at the same time, I was relieved. Being banned meant I didn't have to visit his mom ever again. And that was a good thing considering she hated me. Still, I couldn't help but feel bad for Jesse. Not being able to see your own mom? I couldn't imagine it. That's when I had an idea.

"Mom? Hi, it's me, Tanya. I have a question." A soft voice came from the other end of the phone. "Yes, dear?" "Would you consider hosting a family reuinion? I could bring Jesse and he could meet you guys and we could all reunite with our loved ones." I could feel the excitement forming on the other end. "I think that's a lovely idea, sweetheart. I know your dad and I have been dying to meet Jesse. You go on and on about him." Replied my mom. "Wonderful! Thank you so much, Mom! Do you think it could be ready for next week?" I asked. "We can have it ready for Thursday. Be here by 3pm, that's when it'll start." She answered. I grinned. Finally, Jesse was going to meet my family, and maybe he'd feel so accepted by them that he'd forget about his troubles with his family.

I took the bus to Jesse's work. As it drove along, I looked around me. There were people happily reading books and chatting playfully with others. The bus was honestly one of my favourite places to be. It was so joyful and peaceful to me.

Soon, I arrived at Jesse's office. He owned a little place downtown. I burst through the door, ecstatic. "Hello, Tanya. How may I help you?" Said a familiar voice. "Kendall, would you happen to know where Jesse is?" I asked Jesse's assistant, Kendall. "He's in his cubicle." Kendall answered cheerfully. "Thanks, Ken!" I smiled. I turned the corner to Jesse's cubicle. "Hey, baby, I have great news!" I giggled. "What is it?" He questioned. "My mom invited us to my family's reuinion. It's next Thursday at three. If you want to go, of course." I answered. "I'd love to go." Jesse replied. "Great, so it's settled then! I love you, baby. Have fun at work. By the way, I brought you a doughnut." I placed the doughnut on his desk and kissed his cheek goodbye. "I love you too, Tanya. Thanks for the doughnut!" He called after me.

~The Next Week~

It was Thursday and Jesse and I were getting ready for my get together. We had made a bunch of pies and a batch of my special peanut butter cookies. "Ready?" Jesse asked. "Absolutely. You'll love my family, Jesse. They're sweethearts. And they'll love you, too. I'm sure of it." He kissed my cheek. "I believe you, baby."

We arrived at my parent's house at around quarter to three, giving us enough time to help set up. "Mom, Dad we're here!" I hollered. "In the kitchen, dear!" I heard my dad yell back. "You brought pies and cookies!" Exclaimed my mom. "Of course we did! Gifts for the host." I explained, handing them over to her. "Wonderful. We'll put these out on the table for people to munch on. Save two pies for dessert though." My mom ordered. I followed her instructions and went outside into the backyard.

Jesse's P.O.V

I watched at Tanya left for the backyard, leaving me alone with her parents. "You must be Jesse! Can I tell you, it's a pleasure to finally be meeting you!" Said Tanya's mom. "Thank you Ms. Everett." I replied politely. "Please, call me Sam. And this is Paul, Tanya's father." I shook Paul's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you." I said. "Thank you. And thank you for taking such great care of my daughter. She never stops talking about how great you are to her. I appreciate and respect you for that." I smiled. I had gotten both of her parents approval in a matter of minutes. "Of course. I will do anything to help Tanya and make sure she's ok and we'll taken care of. She's my top priority." Paul and Sam smiled. "It was an honour meeting you, Jesse, but Tanya's probably outside waiting for you. Why don't you go and catch up with her?" Sam said. I nodded. "I'll talk to you guys later." I said with a wave.

I walked outside to find Tanya, leaning over the table, slicing the pies and setting out her cookies. "Here, let me help." I took the pie cutter from her hand and began slicing every pie into equal pieces. Each pie was a different flavour. Apple, pumpkin, rhubarb, cherry, blueberry and there was still the key-lime and lemom-meringue pies in the fridge for dessert! I admired Tanya for all of the work and baking she did. She was a tough girl, and she was very independent. She was truly the girl of my dreams and I was so happy with her. I couldn't believe that my mother couldn't see what I saw in her. I didn't understand it. But I didn't think I ever would.

"I met your parents." I said. "And?" "And they liked me. They really liked me." I exclaimed. "I knew they would, after all, what's not to like?" She took the pie cutter out of my hand, placed it on the table, wrapped my hands around her and brought me in for a kiss. "I love you so much, Jesse. I'm so happy when I'm with you." She said truthfully. "I love you so much too, and I'm the happiest me when I'm with you." I replied.

It didn't take long before Tanya's family members began arriving. I introduced myself to all of them, and everyone of them liked me. I was so proud and happy, I felt as if I finally had a family of my own. One of which liked me for me, and loved my girlfriend almost as much as I did. I finally felt at place with others, but still, I couldn't help but remember what went down at my parent's place last year. I knew I had to make things right with my mom. Who knew, maybe she'd finally come around and try to get to know Tanya? Maybe she'd eventually like her? But I'd figure that out some other time. Right now, I just wanted to appreciate and enjoy the family I did have. The one which loved me.

A/N: I may do a third part to this, one where Jesse confronts his mom about being so judging without even getting to know Tanya. Who knows, I might even start a short story on this scenario because I actually really enjoy it. Let me know if you'd like either of those options to happen, because I'm fully capable of doing it, I just need some time. I'd really love to do either, so just either message me or leave me a comment letting me know😊Once again, I love you guys so much and thank you all for your love and support!❤You guys are so sweet❤
Xoxo, Genny💕
