Long Live...Chapter 8

Start from the beginning

"Give me another egg, these will be for me." I pointed at the scrambled eggs.

"That’s why I made them for you, err." He was so cocky at times. I rolled my eyes at him.

"Oh of course, Brandon." I sarcastically said as I continued to swirl the almost cooked eggs.

"Just make me the eggs, Amanda." He said, sounding annoyed. He pulled out two plates and cups, which he filled up with orange juice.

I flipped the egg and tried to make sure it came out perfect. After five minutes of cooking, I turned off the stove and placed the egg on his biscuit.

"Thanks little sissy." He smiled innocently. He started devouring his breakfast even before I sat down. I ate my eggs along with a toasted slice of bread. He gulped down his juice making that horrible "gulping" noise.

"Brandon!" I whined. He had orange juice on his upper lip, which I tried to ignore while I commented on his “gulping.”

"I’m pretty sure you don’t eat that way in front of Emily and other girls." He scrunched his nose at the 'other girls'. He wanted to have only Emily, which was impossible for Sir Cheat-a-lot. I mean, he wasn’t a huge player, but even as a kid, he would flirt with girls, endlessly. But by the end of the day, he was the best brother and maybe in Emily’s perspective, the best boyfriend.  Once thing for sure is that he had a caring heart, which I loved about him.

We both headed to our own cars, and I instantly turned on the heater and the lights, once I got in. I cursed at the wind for being so cold and for the fog for being so annoying and possibly a traffic hazard.

I followed Brandon noticing I had no other choice. Of course once we got to school I had a choice and that was to not follow him. Once he got out of his car he walked over to Emily. Even when she walked over to Brandon, she wouldn’t acknowledge my presence, which I really didn’t mind.  I stayed in my car, waiting to hear the bell ring. Of course with ten minutes to spare it didn’t really matter. Tori wasn’t even here yet! Her red bug was always here before me.

I then saw a black car drive up swiftly and park with no regrets. I saw James get out of the car his bronze hair ruffling as the wind pressed upon it. A knock on the window snapped me back to reality, or well, more like out of the beautiful trance. It was Tori, she mouthed 'let me in.' Her hair was curled today, which made her look cute even though she wasn't the innocent little kid we all once were.

I unlocked the doors and she jumped right in next to me. Tori looked so warm with her Uggs and thick sweater.

"Hey Man...ahh." she sighed, looking sidetracked.  I followed her eyes. She was looking at James...and a very attractive girl. I felt so angry and used and all these mixed up feelings. She had brown hair, hazel eyes and looked like a freshman. She had a cute button nose too.

"Who’s she?" I asked without looking away.

"Oh, that’s Diane Ashe, James' sister." My heart gave a huge sigh.

"Sister, oh. She doesn’t look like him though." Her heart shaped face differed from his sharp features. She wasn’t even close to being as tall as him. Either way, I was glad Diane was his sister.

"Well they are biological siblings, that’s what I heard. Maybe she got her mom’s gene or something." she shrugged.

Diane gave James a big hug, along with her smile that never has left her face since I’ve seen her. He smiled and shook his head as she walked to the front gate happily.

"She’s a Junior." My mouth nearly dropped. How Junior, I thought? I mean, they aren’t twins and I don’t think their parents had another child that quick.

"Junior? Well they are obviously not biological siblings." Tori nodded, surprised. She obviously hasn’t thought of that.

“Hmm….well you should ask him that, I’m not a doctor!” She threw her hands up. I blinked away from him, and flickered my eyes to the wheel.

"He has another brother, he’s a senior though. His name is Michael Ashe, also a sibling but does not look like either of them.” Tori stated, breaking the silence. I wondered.

"Huh." It wasn’t a question. I stared straight ahead absentmindedly.

"But, he is really cute. I mean, he is kind of eerie at times. He is so silent. Did you know...." I erased Tori out of my head and watched James. He grabbed his backpack and slung it over his shoulder. He closed the door gracefully and walked like a super model towards the front gates. He wore a gray shirt with a button shirt that matched with it. I nearly fainted.

"So what color?" she asked. I blinked my eyelashes as I remembered that Tori was talking to me.

"What- huh? Oh umm....ye-llow?" I inferred.

She nodded. I mentally sighed. Close call.

"Yeah, purple is such a girly color." Tori said as she picked on her nail polish. I heard the buzz on the schools bell alarm. I opened the door and retrieved my bag before shutting the door, making sure Tori got out too. Time for school, great. Let's just hope it's better than yesterday.
