Dylan

"Ready?" I asked Red, as we stood outside my sister and Nate's front door.

She nodded.

I rang the doorbell and waited.

Nate opened the door.

He gave us both a smile and motioned for us to come in. "It's good to see you again Kat," he said, giving her a kiss on her cheek.

"Thanks. You too," Red responded.

Nate then turned to me and gave me a brotherly hug, while clapping me on the back.

"Lia's in the main room."

I nodded and followed him.

When we turned to the main room, my sister was there. She offered us a smile.

I gave Katherine's hand an encouraging squeeze.

She squeezed back in response.

I watched as my sister and Red stood in silence as they looked at each other. I felt my own my eyes grew misty with tears, as I saw their eyes well up with tears.

"Lia..." Katherine started to say, but my sister pulled her into a hug.

"I'm so sorry," Katherine sobbed out.

"Shhh...." Lia responded. "You're not at fault," she added, as she rubbed her back in comfort.

Nate and I decided to give them some privacy so they can talk.

Katherine

"I can't believe you knew all this time," I said.

Lia smiled. "I overheard your mom and Miguel talking about it once."

"How come you never confronted mom about it?" I asked.

"It didn't matter to me at the time. It wasn't important anymore, and I understood why your mom did it and I don't blame her."

"She never got over what she did. She felt so guilty."

"I wish I was able to ease your mom's guilt."

"It wasn't your job to do that."

"She needed to hear it from me," she countered.

I nodded. "I'd like to believe she's looking down at us, and heard every word."

"Me too," she said.

"I really didn't mean to lie to all of you," I started to say.

"I know. I understand why it was hard for you to tell the truth about who you really are, but it's over now. I'm so happy that you're here. I thought about you everyday. Wondered where you and your mom were."

"We never forgot about you either."

She smiled.

"Well now you're here with us and we won't let anything happen to you. We'll find this man."

"Thank you. Thank your for everything," I said tearfully.

"We're your family now and we take care of our own," she said, as we hugged each other once again.

I smiled tearfully.

"Kat, you deserve all the happiness in the world."

"Dylan, he's my happiness and he's my world. I never really imagined any of this, but I'm so happy to have him in my life," I said, getting choked up with emotions. "He's the only good thing in my life, and I'm not letting go or walking away. Not anymore."
