Description: In hindsight, perhaps following the mysterious boy out into the garden wasn't the smartest idea. Maybe Dan should have left him to dance alone. And maybe Dan should have left when he had the chance, but there's no turning back now.

Warnings: brief mention of death.

Dans POV

"Come on Dan, stop being so grumpy. So you missed a little party, big deal!" My mother said from the front seat. I crossed my arms and glared at her from the back.

"You might enjoy it. It's a beautiful time of year for a wedding. And it's aunt carrie's, you love her!" My dad said from next to her. I turned my glare to him and he raised his arms up in defence.

"Hey, just saying!"

"I don't want to go to a stupid wedding! And she isn't even my real aunt... Plus this isn't just 'a party', it's the party. This is the biggest one of the year and because of this stupid wedding I'm missing it!" I huffed. My mom took a second to look in the mirror before looking back at the road.

"Listen Dan, this really means a lot to me so can you please just bare with me and try to enjoy this? You never know, you might even meet someone. There are going to be lots of single girls and bo--"

"Please don't finish that sentence."

"Dan..."

"Look, it was just a drunk mistake! He looked like a girl with all that hair." I cringed.

I had been to a party a few weeks ago and ended up getting really drunk. Like, REALLY drunk. I don't remember much of what happened that night apart from the fact that I got woken up by my parents to find a guy in bed next to me. I don't think we did anything more then making out though, so I at least had some dignity left.

Unfortunately for me, my parents hadn't stopped bugging me about it since.

"Dan, it's okay to admit that you might not be fully straight. It's perfectly normal and we both accept you sti--" Dad started but I interrupted him with a loud groan.

"I don't like guys! Look, I will pretend to be having fun at this stupid wedding if you both promise never to speak about that again, okay?" I negotiated. They both nodded and I went to turn to look out the window before I saw my moms sly smile in the mirror.

Dammit.

The ceremony was held outside. It was actually pretty sweet to be honest. They set a red carpet leading up to the steps of the old building the after party was being held in. A white arch was placed in front of the building too, with red, white and baby pink flowers wrapped around the frame. The benches either side of the carpet were draped in a white cloth and either side of each bench there were wreaths of flowers the same colours as the ones around the arch. Fairy lights had been strung around and it brightened the place up a bit.

When Carrie (I refuse to call her my aunt) came out she was wearing a short white and pink dress with a fade into red trail. In her hair she had weaved in flowers that matched her dress. She looked beautiful. Up at the alter, her new husband (I didn't bother to learn his name. I wouldn't be seeing them again for a long time anyway) was wearing a pink suit and tie with white shoes and a white button up underneath. He had a red rose in his top pocket. It was amazing, apart from the fact that I was freezing to death out there since it was snowing.
