This story follows the life of Anna Beckett and her family after an alien invasion has destroyed their world, their family and everything they've know up until now. Her family is broken apart until they are brought back together within a group called the 2nd Mass. She, her siblings, and their father must come to terms with losing their mother and their brother and look ahead to the future and join the fight for survival in this world turned catastrophic.
