Sonnet 91: Fair Youth
(Faults 2)

A prince's title, if I should declare it,
Must pass among the crowns of better men,
For if by circumstance I somehow wear it
Without the proper coronation, then
I'll shame the very bloodline I inherit
From peers of greater stock than I can pen,
And so I must decline to have them share it
With someone lacking dignity and ken.
But should a proper coronation crown
My head, then may it be a crown of thorns,
That I may be the prince of every clown
Pretending to the throne of rightful scorns
Delivered on the head of humble me,
Stripped of my station in my infamy.
