"I- um, a moment, please, Cipher?!"
I drag Bill out of the Mystery Shack.
"Byeeeeee Masoooonnn!" He calls over his shoulder, with a wink. "Gotta have a chat with the girlfriend!"
"I AM NOT YOUR GIRLFRIEND!"
Dipper laughs.
"The Heck was that, Cipher?!"
"I was digging at Dipper."
"Well don't do it like that!"
"Why not?
"Because, you don't blatantly lie about things like that. Especially to someone that age.
Everything hurts more when you're a teenager!"
"Who said I was lying?"
"Bill, you are not head over heels in love with me...are you?"
"I dunno. I could be. I won't tell you though."
"Bill." I say, softer than intended, face red.
"Yes, Sunshine?"
"Spill."
"...Nah." He walks back into the Mystery Shack.
"Hey! I'm not done with you!" As soon as he opens the door, I yank him back by the back of his collar.
"What? I'm trying to get in some quality tormenting time in with Pine Tree here, Doll-face."
"Tell me, before I rip your face off and wear it as a Summerween mask."
"Whoa-ho! Gra-phic! I like it!"
"Bill."
"Nope." He walks back inside before I can question him further.
"Summerween," I grumble to him as I follow him inside.
"Why yes! I will be your date for the Summerween dance, my lovely ray of sunshine!" He says very loudly. "It would be my honor. Perhaps we could go in pair! Wouldn't that be fun!?"
I smirk, as Dipper watches, wide eyed. "William, I did not ask you to the dance. Nor will I."
Dipper bursts out laughing, "Your real name is William? That's so wimpy!"
"Oh! I'll show you wimpy Pine Tree!" Bill lunges at him, but I grab him before he can do anything. "Can't keep your paws off me, Sunshine?"
"Shut UP, Bill!"
He rolls his eyes, as Dipper's still laughing. "Not like Mason's any better."
I shake my head.
"Soooo, (Y/N), Mabel prods, "Do you, like, I dunnooo, like Bill back?"
"Actually Mabel," I say, with a smug stance and an ever smugger look across my face. "Bill here won't tell me if he actually feels that way, so I withhold that information."
"Awww, C'mon Bill! You did kiss her, after all."
"She incited said kiss."
"Yeah?! Well, you, Mr. Smart Guy, turned at the last second! How was I supposed to know you were going to do that?!"
"Expect the unexpected, Love."
"Expect this, Cipher!" I smack the back of his head.
He scowls, rubbing the back of his head.
"Hey, that was kinda...not....hilarious."
Dipper smiles at me.
"Bill, did you like this kiss?" Mabel says finger to her chin.
Dipper's smile fades.
Bill feigns thought. I can tell. He already knows. I already know. "Yes, I'd say so."
"What about you, (Y/N)?"
"Um, I had a way out of this, I forgot what it was!!" I hop foot to foot, trying to remember.
"I blank. I bet Bill erased it out of my memory. So, yeah, sure, it was fine, I guess."
Bill wiggles his eyebrows.
"Stop that. You are helping nothing."
"Bill, would you mind filling out this compatibility form? I want to see if you and (Y/n) will be soulmates."
"Mabel!!" Dipper hisses.
"Don't worry Bro-Bro, you and (y/n) have already filled one out. I'll compare answers later."
"MABEL!"
"Okay, okay, I can't play this game anymore. I'm getting sick. I gotta go," I run out of the Mystery Shack, into the woods.
I climb a tree, leaning against the trunk as my weight is supported by an adjacent branch. I can breath, finally.
"Hey Sunshine, what'cha doin' all the way up here?" Bill levitates, his hand on my shoulder.
I groan, putting my face into my palms. What is he doing to me? First, he ruins my life, then he offers to make it better, and now he's a flirting machine. Why can't my life just be NORMAL?
"Because, Sunshine, you're not normal. You're special."
"Well, I don't want to be."
"Well, that's how your cards were dealt. You've got to play your hand to the best of your ability."
"Yeah? Well I fold."
"C'mon, you're my sunshine. You don't quit, that's part of what makes you special!"
"Bill, I am not your sunshine!"
"You could be."
"What do you mean?" I peek out from behind my hands.
"You could be, if you wanted to."
"Elaborate, Cipher."
"Well, I do bide a sizable amount of my time wondering about you, not purposely or anything, I just do. I seem to be quite enamored with you, you lucky devil of a human, man, I wish I were you so someone as great as me could be as enamored with me as I am you. Anyway, it seems the only time I stop wondering about you is when I'm with you. So I thought we could pursue on of those human-y relationship-py thingies. I mean, if you want, no big deal if you don't or, whatever..."
"Yeah. That'd be nice."
"ALRIGHT! Time to go gloat in front of Pine Tree!"
"No, Bill."
"Oh no, you're one of those controlling types, aren't you?"
"No, Cipher, Stop it. Ugh, Did I really agree to this?"
"Yeah, you did. And now you're stopping me from gloating. Why?"
"Just...don't tell the Pines yet. Or anyone on your Cipher wheel. Or anyone. Not even Time Baby. I'm just not ready yet. Mabel'll be fine, but Dipper's the one I'm worried about. Bill, he's my best friend, okay, just wait. You can gloat later."
"You take away all my fun, woman. And then on top of that, you think I'd talk to that looser Time Baby."
I smile at him and he pulls me from the tree, holding me tightly as we descend to the forest floor.
He takes my hand, and kisses my cheek. I smile shyly, face growing red again.
There seems to be a lot of blushing in my life.
Bill seems to be the one causing it.
