On any other night when it's nearly impossible to see past your outstretched arm, Jack would've ordered everyone into a tight single file line.

That way they'd be close enough to at least see each other and prevent everyone from separating or getting lost.

Thankfully for Jack and his men though, the bright full moon that's shining brightly is providing enough illumination to a vast majority of the lands with the occasional dark spots shrouded in the tree cover.

As said, they won't have to worry about being separated from each other. So instead, Jack has everyone moving in a wedge formation with him up in the front.

Suddenly Jack stopped and held his hand up in a closed fist and everyone stopped, spreading out everyone found cover to conceal themselves with. Then Jack himself carefully stepped into the darkness that the trees are providing.

"Ok fellas, just remember we're in unfriendly territory now, stay alert and be prepared for anything that might jump out at us." Jack whispered as he took a kneel behind one of the trees and reached into his pocket in order to pull out his folded map.

Jack was carrying a wool blanket with him just like every other soldier here. Besides providing concealment for him and protection from the elements if it ever got too cold.  It could also be used to hide his flashlight when he needs to turn it on, which is the case now.

Sliding his knapsack off of him like a backpack, he then untied his blanket and also had to unfold that as well. Then feeling out the ground to see if it was wet, he laid out his map in the dark and then laying on his stomach.

Getting comfortable, Jack pulled the blanket over his head and he spaced it out, that way it was covering his shoulders, head, and the map on the ground. Now then, turning the flashlight on he pointed it on his map and began to retrace his steps from the route he took.

Finally after a few frustrating minutes pass, Jack got his bearings with the help of Harris who's kneeling next to him and answering his questions.

Turning the flashlight off and folding his map back up, Jack then went about to repacking his wool blanket and securing it to his knapsack.

Then he placed his arms through the straps and had it rest against his back before he turned to face everyone in the dark, "We're roughly half a click from the estimated enemy lines, which means I want everyone on full alert now, no more slacking off... Stay awake and stay alert everyone." Jack whispered as he turned to face straight once more and carefully emerged from the darkness which the tree canopies were providing.

Everyone whispered back their replies and slowly the squad began to move once more, but this time. They're more awake and alert now then they previously were prior to the Lieutenant's final warnings.

German front lines, half an hour later.

Looking up in the dim light that the lit candle's providing, Otto watched the opening of his tent get filled up with a broad shouldered looking shape. Until finally, he relaxed a little seeing that the figure belonged to Kristin, he apparently had a handful of something as well.

The mouth watering aroma of seasoned, cooked meat assaulted Otto's senses, it was even enough to wake up Oslo from his heavy slumber.

"Here, I gat ou o his." Kristin said, the spoon handle that he's holding between his teeth had jumbled his speech up, so for a moment the two Unteroffizers sat there confused before they saw the soup cans being held out for them to grab.
