"My brother is back in town," she said with no emotion. I clenched my jaw and kept my eyes on her expressionless face. "What did he want," I asked through clenched teeth. She shook her head and looked down.
"I don't know, i cut him off after he shot me months ago. The last time I saw him was at my house, when he tried to shoot you," she responded, making my hands ball up into fist.
"So he was the one," I mumbled, nodding in anger. A part of me had a feeling it was him since he showed up to the hospital and I knew Ebony hadn't called him. She still didn't know i had called to check on her that day. "He was aiming for brat and it was an accident but i swore id never let him hurt me again after that," she explained.
"Brat," I asked curiously?
"The one i'd been sharing the town home with. I actually haven't spoke to her since she sold the place and moved to New York. i wonder how she's been since then. The shooting gave her a reevaluation of her life too. She knew that guy from the boxing gym that you were sparing with," She said making me more confused then a little bit. Now that she'd mentioned the girl, I recalled not seeing her with Chresanto but with Wolfe. When i first met up with him, his pimp brother was walking in with that Brat chick right behind him. What if she'd been undercover for Chresanto or the other way around. I'd have to ask Davey when I spoke to him again. He was the one who had called saying Chresanto was to blame and we needed to kill that mother fucker. I was on the same page as him for now. I knew someone who worked for Chresanto did this or he did. It was someone who wanted Wolfe dead for whatever reason.
"Why was he gunning for Brat," I asked Ebony, doubting he had any real answers.
"No clue. I stopped all communication with him after the shooting. I think he's trying to pull a fast one honestly. I don't trust him, especially while he's on drugs," she said making me sigh in relief. So she wasn't that crazy then to let this nigga back in her life.
"So he's back on drugs or did he never kick it," I asked seriously? He could have me fooled easily. I didn't know if he was using or just another common drunk. Either way I wanted Ebony far away from him and his head on a spike as soon as possible. He causes too much trouble for me.
"Good question," Ebony sighs heavily. Seeing that this conversation was a lot for her, I decided to move on from it.
"So my mom said you guys spent sometime getting the baby's room together. She's growing fond of you and so is Mitchy," I told her as she leaned closer into me. "Really," Ebony spoke with hope in her tone. I chuckled at her excitement and nodded.
"They probably see what i see. And the rest of my familia will love you too, in time," I explained. I honestly didn't know whether or not Ebony could make anyone hate her. She just had that good of a heart. She even changed how i felt about almost everything.
"I didn't know you saw anything in me," she smirked.
"Right now I can see you got a good seven pound something in you," I teased as i could hear my heart in my ears.
"Yeah," she spoke in tone that rang with something. I looked at Ebony to see her looking down and her face melancholy. Had i said something wrong?
"I liked you before the baby Nikko. At first you were very rough around the edges but you became softer as time went on. I saw a side of you that was hard to deal with and i still fell for you... then you showed me a side of you that was different and confused."
