Chapter 9 ~ You've got to be shitting me!

Start from the beginning

The rouges that were not hit all retreated, running with their tails between their legs. Serves them right! I thought to myself, you don't mess with my pack!

I couldn't agree more, my wolf replied.

The rest of the pack were around me now staring a Jessica. Some of the pack had their bottom jaws on the ground. I couldn't help but let out a wolf chuckle, not everyone knew about what Jessica could do. They sure did now! Before anyone could say anything Jessica collapsed in a heap on the ground. I quickly shifted back and ran over to her with the triplets and the pack doctor on my tail.

I gently stroked her fur but I quickly recoiled my hand, she was over heating! As I knelt back nursing my burnt hand in my lap as I watched Dr Will try to cool her down.

"We need to get her to shift back," He said looking at me, "can you help me?" I nodded.

I knelt beside her and placed my hand on her forehead to find that she had cooled down a bit.

"Jay, sweetie you need to shift back." I whispered into her ear. Then instead of my hand being on fur it was on skin. I smiled as I looked down and saw that she was now back in her human form.

"Right, we must take her to the medical wing. Boys will you help me carry her?" Dr Will asked the triplets. They willingly picked her up and took her inside the pack house.

"Everybody!" I shouted, "Please tend to the bodies." After my order I ran into the pack house to check on Jessica. I sure hope she was okay.

Jay's P.O.V

My eyes fluttered open but quickly shut when they started to burn from the light streaming into the room. Where even was I? The last thing I remember is attacking the rouges with my fire and then collapsing on the ground, but I was outside.

I opened my eyes again and surveyed the room. I easily discovered that I was in the medical wing. Just great! What did I do to myself this time?!

No one was around so I thought that I'd get up and go find somebody, however, my plan failed as soon as all my muscles protested, I let out a cry of pain. I didn't get time to settle myself back down as I felt hands help me down.

"What do you think you were doing?" Dr Will asked.

I gave an 'okay you caught me' smile, "I wanted to get out of bed."

"You have to rest; you exhausted yourself out when you unleashed hell on the rouges." He smirked. "I must say that was quite impressive, I knew there was something special about you."

I couldn't help but blush at his comment. "When I can I get out of here?"

"You can leave in a couple of hours, but for now just rest." He said walking to the door. "Besides you have some visitors." He smiled then left.

Shortly after he was gone the door burst open nearly coming off of its hinges. Now standing in my room were the triplets and Penny. I smiled at them, "hey guys."

"Oh my god! You're awake!" Penny screamed running over to give me a hug.

I laughed, "Penny, I was only exhausted. Nothing major."

"I don't care!" She pulled away from me and beamed at me. "You've just been asleep for a while and the boys were starting to get on my nerves." She laughed and I joined in.

"Hey we we're not that bad!" James piped up.

"Yeah." Josh and Jake chorused.

"Oh really, why don't we tell Jay everything shall we?" Penny smiled evilly, whilst the boys looked at me sheepishly. "Penny when's Jay going to wake up, I miss her, I'm bored, I'm so lonely... Shall I go on?"

"No!" They all shouted together. Penny looked at me and we cracked up laughing, we both had tears streaming down our faces.

"Alright guys it's not that funny," Jake pouted. Instead of calming down that just set us off again.

After Penny and I's laughing fit they all left me so I could rest and for that I was thankful as I was still exhausted.

I woke up a few hours later and saw Dr Will stood at the foot of the bed.

"How are you feeling?" He asked me with a kind smiled.

"I'm feeling refreshed and ready to go!" I replied with a grin.

He chuckled, "well my dear you are free to go, just take it easy okay?"

"I will do Will." I got up and walked to the door, I turned to face him again. "Thank you."

"You are very welcome," he smiled.

I shot out of the medical wing and up towards Penny's office. I was so full of energy it was amazing and I wanted to see if there was anything I could do so I could put it to good us. I reached her office in seconds and burst through the door without knocking as usual.

"I have arrived!" I shouted with my arms out wide and a grin on my face.

"Jay!" She hissed, "can't you see I'm on the phone?!" I looked at her then I saw the phone in her hands, I made an 'O' shape with my mouth.

"Sorry," I apologised but I didn't leave I just sat down in a chair opposite her, making myself comfortable. Penny gave me a funny look but I just waved my hand signalling for her to carry on with her conversation.

She shook her head, "I'm sorry for the interruption that was my beta Jay." At the mention of my name I smiled. I tried to listen in on the conversation but I could hear what the person on the other end of the line was saying, it was very frustrating.

I looked at my nails and examined the ends of my hair waiting for Penny to finish her phone call, when she was done I heard her sigh.

"Stressful phone call?" I asked concerned.

"You could say that," she sighed again, then looked me in the eyes. I saw guilt shimmer in her eyes. What could she possibly be guilty for?

"Pen, are you okay?"

"I don't know Jay, I don't know." She rested her head in her hands.

"Come on you can tell me I'm your beta after all, and your friend." I said reassuringly.

"Just please don't be mad." I nodded, "that was another pack alpha on the phone. You know that we were attacked by rouges the other day, well we weren't the only pack that was ambushed." She paused looking at me, I nodded for her to carry on. "Well, that pack suffered greatly, they have lost many of their members and they were asking us to help them."

"I don't see how that is a problem, they are a pack in need and that is what we stand for we help and protect others." I said confused.

"I wasn't finished yet. That pack that called also happened to be your old pack." Penny looked at me once she finished with concern. I didn't blame her for being cautious when telling me it was them. But I kept my cool.

"And?" I persisted.

"And I said we would help."

"What?!" I screamed.

"What was I supposed to do? I couldn't turn them down I didn't have a reason to and I couldn't tell them about you Jay, and you wouldn't of wanted me to." She tried to make me see reason.

"I say we let them all die! Burn and rot in hell! That is what you should have said." I fumed. I was not going to help them after everything they did to me, even if I am stronger and wiser then I was when I left, they can all die for all I care. They don't deserve Penny's pity or our help.

"There's nothing I can do now, they will be arriving within the next couple of days and they will be staying in the guest house." That was it, it was now finally after Penny said that. My new life was now officially ruined!

"You've got to be shitting me," I murmured under my breath.
