"Your writing convention is not worth it. There are better publishing companies in New York." She was right, but this place was my home. "Melissa, I have to stay for this."
She shook her head. "Your parents would not want this for you, they would want you to be successful. They would want you to live a great life. Staying her does not offer you that."
My parents. "Do this for your parents Lainie." Tears began to fill my eyes and I could not think straight. The only thing on my mind was making my deceased parents happy.
So I did the stupid thing, and I packed my bags and was on my way to New York the next morning.
When I got on the plane with my aunt, she told me how glorious New York was. The only thing I could think about was Everett, and how heart broken he would be.
I am such an idiot. I left the only things I love behind. My writing and my boyfriend. Those two things are what made my homem.
I popped a sour patch kid into my mouth and smiled as I remembered when I first started talking to Everett. Then I popped another into my mouth, realizing I am the sour patch kid.
First I am sour. Then I am sweet. Then I am gone.
