Past Comes Back (NCIS)

CHAPTER 22

Katherine's POV

It's been about eleven weeks since Derek and I found out that we would be expecting our first child and things have gotten so much better. I feel like this baby is giving my husband a reason to come out of his depression and be happy, so maybe everything does happen for a reason. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and it feels like time is flying by. Four months in and about six more months to go since I found out women actually carry a child for up to ten months

A few week ago we had made an attempt to tell our parents the good news, but for us it didn't went so well since we found out that they don't actually believe that we can handle raising a baby. Honestly I thought that we were long past the days when they'd say you guys are too young to do 'whatever' but I guess not. Both of our parents think we're not mature enough to handle raising a baby because we focus most of our time on our jobs and one another, so we just didn't bother telling them anything. I don't feel like being judge the way they did when we announced our engagement, so Derek and decided that instead of staying with either one of them we'd lease a house for a few months while ours is still under construction and so said so done

Derek: babe we should get going, I told you I had a surprise

"I'm coming" I headed out to the car with him and he drove us over to the location of what's supposed to be our home and it was from what I could see completed which made me smile

Derek: Your going to love this, lets go view the inside

"Derek this is so beautiful, how did you get it done so quickly?" I questioned

Derek: I had a little help from someone close to me.

We walked up to the front door and he led me through the house, it was beautiful and simple all at once. I didn't want anything fancy, but he grew up with that kind of lifestyle, so the house was a little bit of both of us and I loved that. There were our wedding photo's along with family photo's all along the walls in the hallway and living room that was decorated in black and white

"Why is there two master bedrooms and a nursery set up for a little boy, you don't know the sex of our baby" I asked "and I thought we agreed on only having three bedrooms, but I counted six" I continued

Derek: about that. You said that you wouldn't want something that would be too big for just the soon to be three of us, and you love the idea of our baby growing up around family so Xander and I decided to just build a house together and that way you get the best of both worlds. The nursery's for his baby which is a boy, our kid will most definitely be a baby girl

"your a little insane, but I love it and having Xander and Ellie here will be a nice experience because you travel often and i'll never have to be alone in here. I like how there's a whole playground set up in the back yard" I told him

Derek: My idea, we expanded the property space so the kids can have a play area and we'd still be able to have our pool which is the only thing not finished yet. We can be moved in by the end of the day

"I would love that" I kissed his lips as he smiled at me. We spent the remainder of the day packing up our things as the movers carried them to our new place and after a long day of organizing we were finally done. I might not have lifted anything, but I was exhausted and he could see that, so he ran me a warm bath then went and made us dinner, after a quiet evening together I cleaned up his mess in the kitchen and we headed into bed together

Tony's POV

It was a stressful work week, we had a kidnapping case and it tugged on a lot of heart strings, especially when it came to the women. A marine's eight year old daughter was taken from her home around midnight on friday, it's now Saturday night and still no new leads, so guess who's not going home this weekend? I didn't mind none the less because I have three small children and if anything were to happen to any one of them I honestly think I'd loose my mind

Gibbs: Anything new on finding our missing girl DiNozzo?

"Nothing yet boss, but bishop is trying to triangulate where our mystery caller was calling from. We'll find her boss. I know Kat's upset with you and jen right now, but we could really use her help on this one

Gibbs: try her cell

Ellie: I already did and Derek said she's in bed

Gibbs: well you explain to him the situation so he can get her out of bed.

While bishop tried at calling for kat again we all continued working out leads which only got us right back to where we started which is nowhere. this little girl has been missing for hours and we're still stuck. About 30 minutes into the night Kat came dressed in her pajamas carrying her laptop in hand as she took a seat at the bosses desk reviewing the case files

Katherine: this case is too random. I can't figure this out, we need him to call again or we're going to be like dogs chasing our tails

Ziva: that's not great news, how will you know if he's going to call back or not. the last call lasted fifteen seconds so this person knows how to be traced

Katherine: Yeah, but there's one of him and all of us. We just need to put our heads together and catch the bastard so I can go back to my bed. I think your all set on this being your average kidnapping but I have a gut feeling that it's so much more. I'm going to get me some green tea

Ziva: since when do you drink tea and not coffee?

Katherine: I haven't had coffee in months which feels like an eternity, but I feel so much more energized doing this green tea detox

McGee: you are getting bigger, I mean the last time I saw you i'd say you were about the size of Ziva and.............

Katherine: WOW! are you serious? I'm trying to be a better person but your sitting there asking for me to hurt your feelings. Just quit while your ahead. I think I was annoyed enough for one evening so I can work this from home. All I need is a laptop and my ear piece and I have both so goodbye

McGee: I think you took it the wrong way

Ellie: Is there a right way to take that?

Katherine: as much as I would love to hear this I have an eight year old I need to help you guys find so goodbye

Ellie: can you give me a ride home the same time? I'd drive myself but I keep having these braxton hicks contractions and it's not a nice feeling

Katherine: That's mo problem

Kat carried bishop's things for her as they headed out together

Narrator'S POV

As kat and ellie walked into the dark parking lot they headed for the car after Katherine pressed her alarm to unlock it. she popped the trunk to place the case files inside and felt a presence behind her. Thinking it was only bishop she ignored it as she closed the trunk, but turned around to be face to face with a tall man dressed in black. He stared into her green eyes as she was about to reach for her weapon, but him being faster than she was he took it away from her then said "If you don't want my buddy to kill your pregnant friend over there I suggest you follow me" she watched as the man made Ellie hop into the van and she had to do the same. the only thing Kat was able to do was push the agent needs assistance button on her phone before having it thrown out of the moving van. the phone ended up hitting her car which sounded the alarm as the van sped out of the NCIS parking lot
