Hey guys(: So I'm uploading again. Just so you all know, I hate rushing things, so I will upload when the urge to write hits me. But if I have good feedback, I'll write hella faster. ;D Thanks to those of you who are reading!

I awoke because my head was vibrating. Or more, my phone under my head was vibrating. My eyelids flew open, and I swung my feet over the side hurriedly, sitting up so quickly I became dizzy. I rubbed my temples as the buzzing continued, and when my vision returned, I grabbed my cell phone, and squinted at the screen. Oh shit. It was my boss, Tony Rizzo, the head of the Chrysler Incorporation factory stationed in Detroit. Until I had enough money raised to go to a decent university, I worked for him as a secretary. I hit the talk button, and jammed it to my ear nervously.

"Hello, Mr. Rizzo?"

"Ms. Griffin, where are you? You were supposed to be here about an hour ago," he came through the phone. My eyes darted to the clock on the wall. Shit, he was right.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Rizzo, I had a busy night last night and got to bed late." I tapped my fingers on the couch, hoping he would let this slip.

He sighed, and paused. I could imagine him rubbing his balding head, deep in thought. "I understand, Adrienne, but an national company is on our shoulders. One busy night can't throw back and delay tomorrow's events, is this clear?"

"Yes, I promise it won't happen again, sir."

"Excellent. I expect you to be here in a half hour. We have a lot to do today."

"Of course, thank you."

"Alright Ms. Griffin, see you then." We both hung up and I stood, stretching out my back and brushing my hair out of the face. Almost sprinting, I dashed to my room, tore open my closet, and took out a black pencil skirt, a half sleeve red and white striped blouse, and black pumps, gathering the documents from work. I pulled off my clothes from last night, redressed, freshened up, and piled my hair back into a messy curly half-bun. Hopping into the kitchen, my feet half-shoved into my pumps, I snatched two apples and a banana, gathered my things, and dashed out the door.

---

When I got to work, Mr. Rizzo was pacing back and forth, rubbing his near-bald head, and when he saw me, a sigh of relief escaped his lips.

"Oh thank God you're here, Adrienne. This morning's been damned so far, I need your help."

"Of course," I smiled, placing my things on my desk. "Where do I begin?"

And so the morning went from there.

---

"Goodness, Adrienne. It's eleven. Get on home." Turning after locking his office's door, briefcase tucked under arm, Mr. Rizzo turned and gazed at me. My desk was lit by the artificial harsh light of a lamp, and crumbs from lunch covered the papers I was working frantically on.

"I'm almost done. Besides, I came late today, I should stay later too." I set down my pen and rolled my wrists out, looking up at him. He paused, keys in hand, and made a few steps to the door.

"Come on. You should get home. I don't want you in here alone. And I don't want you to get home any later than this. It's dangerous. Come on, get your things and I'll walk you to your car." His tone was low and kind as his short, pudgy figure leaned against the doorway, waiting for me.

"All right," I finally agreed, exhaling as I stood, bent over my belongings. "But I'll be here early Monday morning."

He chuckled. "You work so hard. University means a lot to you, huh?"
