In this story, you have red hair, if you don't mind. The length, whatever length it is, stays the same for you though :)
It was a normal day for you, out in the woods. You lived out in a cabin with your Pop, who had a severe illness. Well, it was only threatening when it decided to act up, where you had to run to the nearest village to get medicine. You had a small bag tied around your belt along with a whip, incase of any monsters or ninja's on the way. Better safe than sorry, as they say.
You were on your way to the village to get a few food items and medication for your father again, even though you kind of dreaded it. You had (h.l) red hair, and it was a little abnormal, to put it lightly. You were constantly teased as a child, but now that you were older, only rumors and whispers behind your back were done instead of pushing and pulling on your hair.
Whistling a light tune to yourself, you finally got into town. Making your way to the supermarket, you heard whispers again. But they were abnormally unfamiliar. That was weird, this town didn't get a lot of newbees.
You turn your head over to the trio. To say the least, you were surprised. They were obviously talking about your hair, no, it was just the pink haired one badly whispering to the... Silver haired one with one eye covered. And they were talking about you? Jesus, that blonde boy had whiskers! Was... was no one noticing that?!
None the less, you hated being gossiped about, even if it were about people weirder than you in so many ways. But you kept those thoughts inside! You weren't spreading them around, it was just plain respect! It wasn't like you had anyone to talk to anyways, but still, it was like no one in this whole village had even had a decent mother telling them it was wrong to gossip. A bit sad, to be honest...
Before you walked into the store, you looked at the blonde boy, glaring at him a little bit before going into the supermarket. Why couldn't people just... talk to you for once? And not judge you from so called 'sidelines'?
Getting what you needed from the store, you made your way to the medication hub before you felt a tap on your shoulder. You flinched, before looking back into deep blue eyes. You kneaded your eyebrows together in confusion and disappointment.
"Oh, it's you." You scoffed, and continued to walk. The boy followed you by your side.
"Expecting someone else?"
"Honestly, no. But I didn't think, or want it to be you." You rolled your eyes, trying to end the conversation.
"What's your name?" You groaned. Why wouldn't he leave you alone?
"Why? Why are you talking to me?" You asked the blonde, stopping in your tracks to look up at him. He was quite taller than you. "You and your weird trio were just back talking me earlier, which I really don't understand why!" Your temper was slowly rising. It was the first time you could confront someone with how uncomfortable you were with them talking about you, and not to you.
"Honestly, I guess I can get everyone else always talking shit about me, but you guys? You have whiskers! That girl has pink hair! Then the other one has some weird mask and silver hair! Who are you guys to judge? I'm just some girl passing by with red hair, okay? That's all I've been in this town, and that's all I'll ever be! Now please, leave me alone!"
You huffed, moving a piece of your hair out of your face from your outburst, and pushed past the boy, and into the medicine house. You went to one of the seats, knowing that the doctors were already getting your prescription. If anything, the doctors were the only ones to treat you kindly.
You angrily tapped your foot on the ground, still riled up from earlier. Really, what was it that irked you like that? It wasn't like you at all. You were actually starting to feel bad. After all, all he did was ask for your name and you just yelled at him like that. Groaning, you hid your face with your hands, resting your elbows on your knees as you slouched.
"I think we got off on the wrong foot," A familiar voice said, on the seat next to you. You didn't even notice he came in!
"I'm really sorry, you didn't deserve my outburst. My name is _____." You blurted, your eyes still covered with your hands in embarrassment. You didn't see the whisked cheeked boy grin.
"It's Naruto! And by the way, I actually like your hair."
You lifted your head up, looking at the boy dumbfounded. No one... had ever said that. "What?"
"My mom had hair like yours," Naruto's eyes softened, unconsciously lifting a hand and pulling a soft strand gingerly, making your cheeks warm. "I've only really met her once, but she had soft red hair like yours. She was beautiful like you, too." He grinned, your cheeks getting hotter. Naruto's eyes widened, and he let go of your hair. "Sorry, it's weird to feel people's hair suddenly. Couldn't help it, ya know?" He laughed, scratching the back of his head.
"Ya know?" You chuckled, getting up from your seat when you saw the doctor return to the desk.
"Ah, something I picked up from her, actually. Didn't notice it." Naruto shrugged, watching you go to the desk and sign papers.
"Actually, can I get some sleeping herbs? I've been having trouble sleeping. That time of year again, ya know?" You told the doctor, who nodded in understanding. You were about to get extra money, before the lady stopped you.
"It's fine. It might seem like pity, but I guess it is. Take it, it's on the house this time." She smiled, and you looked at her in appreciation. You put the leaves in your small bag.
"Thank you." You then left the hut, Naruto following.
"You sick?"
"Nah, it's my Pop. The sleeping herbs are for me though. I'm starting to get restless from the anniversary coming so soon, and so is Pop. So he's been acting up more lately so I have to work more to get money to get his medicine weekly." You explained to him, seeing his friends in the distance. Naruto gave you an apologetic glance.
"Sorry, must be tough. What anniversary?" Boy, did he ask a lot of questions!
"It's the anniversary that my mother got killed by ninja's 7 years ago."
You reached his friends right as you said that, and you smiled lightly. "You are all ninja's, by the looks of it." Naruto was about to blurt, before you stopped him. "Don't worry, I have no grudges. I've learned from personal experience to not judge someone so quickly. You were not the ninja's that killed my mother. You all look like you guys are out on some weird, save the world adventure anyways!" You laughed to yourself, before heading to the front gates of the town.
"Hey! Wait up!"
You looked over your shoulder. "What? I got to get back to my Pop!"
"Um.. I actually don't know." Naruto shrugged, and you laughed again.
"Would you like to come...?"
"Yeah!" The blonde cheered, jumping up in the air. You saw the pinky roll her eyes.
"Naruto, don't just intrude!"
"No, it's fine. I think you all will get along fine with my dad, as long as you take off those ninja bands, if you don't mind. And if you still want to cover up your eye, I have a bandana if you want Mr.Silver." You looked at the tall male, while Naruto chuckled.
"It's Kakashi... And yes, thank you."
"Alright, I'm sure we'll all get along!" You smiled. For once, you didn't feel ashamed about your hair. And you were sure that Naruto had something to do with it.
