Link x Reader (requested) {Anxiety} Legend of Zelda!

You felt anxiety run all throughout your body as you slowly walked towards the place you and Link were supposed to meet. It had been a few months since you've seen your childhood friend. You had quite the crush on him too, so you were just as excited to see him as well as you were nervous. It wasn't easy liking the hero of Hyrule. 

Eventually, you sat on a hill where a magnificent cherry tree sprouted from. Lying against the hard bark, you close your eyes as you waited for Link to show. You were quite tired from the walk, and the calm wind running through your hair calmed you so much that you were out for a minute.

"____.."

"_____!" You heard your name be called out, pulling you out of your dream. Slowly your eyes focused on the blonde in front of you dressed in a green tunic and hat. Your lips lifted into a smile, seeing his bright azure eyes shined just like the last time you saw him. 

"Link," You got up from your spot in the grass, hugging him quickly. "It's been such a long time!" 

"It has," Link returned your embrace, unconsciously nuzzling into your (h.l) (h.c) hair. You let go of Link, expecting him to do the same, but he kept you in his arms. You laughed to yourself. 

"Link? Can you let go of me?"

"Oh, of course. Sorry," The hero muttered, looking at the ground. 

"So, Link... When are you leaving this time?" 

"I'm actually leaving again tomorrow. I was lucky to get today off at all," He shrugged, a hand running through his hair. You sighed. 

"Why you, of all people? Why were you the destined one?" You whispered, taking his hand in your palm and softly caressing it. His skin was tan and rough, as expected from a hero.

"It had to be someone, _____." Lightly, Link squeezed your hand. You supposed that was true. 

"Hey, Link." You looked back to his soft blue ocean eyes, the pair of eyes you fell for quite harshly. "Can I tell you a secret?"

"Anything, ____." The hero tilted his head, a little confused by your sudden outburst. Your cheeks warmed, continuing to hold his hand while your other hand landed on his shoulder. 

"For the longest time, I've been selfish," You sighed. "I've always wanted you to just quit the whole hero act and come and be with me, be silly and never leave each other's side like when we were kids. But there are so many people who need you, even when you defeat Ganon you will still be on duty because that's how you are. I would know," 

You smiled, looking at your intertwined hands. "You're never one to stop something you've started. So many people love you Link, but it's sad because they don't love you for who you are. Not like I do. They love you for what you've done. I love you... Because I know you. I know your fears, your anxiety, your hopes and dreams. And I just... I hope that you continue to strive. Oh, where was I going with this? I have no idea." You laughed, taking your hand off Link's shoulder and hiding your red face with it. Why were you confessing? It's not like he would like you back. He didn't have time for you. He barely even made it here today. 

"____..." If anything, Link was surprised by your sudden confession. So many things at once, but three words stuck in his mind the most. I love you.

Did you really feel that way?

There was one way to see if you really felt the way he wanted you to. Slowly, he removed your hand from your red face, and took your chin in his hand. He had done many things that people would say were brave beyond reason, but this felt like the bravest thing the hero had ever done. 

Link kissed you. 

And you would be a fool if you didn't kiss him back. Your intertwined hands parted and traveled each others bodies, Links hands resting at your cheek and hip, yours were both embracing his torso. It was a passionate, but shy and slow kiss, as if you were both testing each other and seeing who would take it further. But wherever this new relationship would lead, whether it be tonight or next month, this moment would be forever embarked in your memory and you would never regret the new bond you both created.
