Saturday and Sunday
are my two favorite days
of the week
because I don't have to
deal with the idiots
at school
who think the week
was made for inventing
new ways to insult me.
Instead, I get to
sleep in
and relax
and pretend that school
is just a horrible nightmare.
I wish that was
all it is -
because at least then
I could wake up
from the horrors
I have to face
every day.
Over breakfast,
my mother proposes
an outing of some sort
for the two of us.
She's not exactly sure
of what kind of outing
it will be -
but it ceases to matter
when she suddenly
jumps up
(scaring me
half to death
in the process)
and proclaims:
"I have a lunch date!"
as though she had
forgotten it.
She probably had.
She leaves
a few minutes later
after kissing me on the cheek
and promising that we
would do something
to make up for today
the next weekend.
I'm used to my mother's
sporadic and forgetful
behavior,
but I can't help but think
that forgetting something
so important
could have dire consequences
in the future
if she isn't careful.
It could be
the bills
next time
instead of her attempted date
with a guy she works with
and probably was actually
supposed to meet with
to discuss business.
It could be serious
next time.
She is a wise woman
in my opinion,
but is also very
eccentric
and clumsy
and forgetful -
and I sometimes
worry
that she'll regress
too far,
and I will have to
mother her
like she has
mothered me.

This one is short too, so it all works out...
Cam's mom is actually my favorite because she is super clumsy and doesn't have a lot of common sense, but she's profound in other areas. Kind of like me if I were to be a parent someday, except I don't have so many words of wisdom as she does. Poor Cam has to worry about her 24/7, though.
