"Mia," Mom suddenly speaks up, her voice honey coated sweet but I straighten abruptly at that tone. I know this tone very well. This is the deadly tone, exclusive to mothers. "Don't you have something to say to this young lad over here?" It takes me a moment to comprehend her words. "Oh." I say. "Oh... Um," I nervously look over at Alexander who gazes at me expectantly. I see the crazy glint in his blue eyes and furrow my eyebrows, moving away slightly. "It's, um, a surprise to know that you live here too." Alexander raises his eyebrows. "Have I seen you somewhere?" he asks, looking confused. I try to push away the dark feeling of not being known. I mean, why would he know me? I'm a nobody. He's a somebody. Nonetheless, a sarcastic retort is on my tongue waiting to burst out but I notice Mom giving me a threatening sideways glare. Uh-oh. ''Maybe,'' I said with a fake smile. ''We go the same school, in a few same class. If you were ever present in the class you would have seen me, Alexander Richards.'' He smirks. ''First, you don't call me Alexander. It's either Alex or Al. Second, I don't remember the names of people I'm not concerned with. It's too much of a pain in the ass. And third, I think your name is Multi Tasking.' ''Mia Turner!'' I snap, my face reddening. I hear my mom giggling under her breath. God, out of 3 million people in this city why is he the only one staying in the house next to mine? My life sucks.
