This story is about a girl named mackenzie and her struggles of growing up with a phycological disorder called selective mutism.

Selective mutism is a psychiatric disorder in which a person who is normally capable of speech is unable to speak in given situations or to specific people.

Fact: most people with selective mutism also have social anxiety.

Besides lack of speech, other common behaviors and characteristics displayed by selectively mute people include: shyness, social anxiety, fear of social embarrassment, and/or social isolation, withdrawal, difficulty maintaining eye contact, blank expression, reluctance to smile, stiff and awkward movements, difficulty expressing feelings, even to family members, tendency to worry more than most people of the same age, desire for routine and dislike of changes, sensitivity to noise and crowds, moodiness, and sleep problems

On the positive side, many people with this condition have: above-average intelligence, perception, or inquisitiveness, creativity and a love for art or music, empathy and sensitivity to others' thoughts and feelings, a strong sense of right and wrong

~~Important note~~

I don't wish to hurt or make fun of anyone by writing this story.

I am not selective mute but my best friend is and she has inspired me to write about her experiences to hopefully help her and others with the same condition. (Names have been changed to keep it confidential) 🙈🙉🙊 hope you like it please vote and comment! First chapter will be up ASAP!
