Chapter 5

"Jax's do you think this is going to be easy with strigoi? These men are human they can actual feel each punch and the impact each time you throw one" Jaxson was having a rough time keeping up with them. "Sonny come here" he backed away and that's when Jax's got better. "Yes Rose? I was kind of having fun over there" I shook my head laughing. "Oh Sonny, so you going to tell me who this new girl is or is she just a fling per usually?" He just looked at me and he got lost in thought "Jax DON'T ever turn your back to your enemy. Are you trying to get your Moroi killed?" I know this is our first practice but I need to see how many mistakes he can make in one fight. "No boss I'm not." I just shook my head and looked at Sonny, he finally looked up at me "I'm not attracted to her at all. Rose, she's my sister I thought she was killed by a strigoi attack a long time ago. So when I saw her, I dropped everything I was doing. I'm sorry for not doing my job but I hope you understand it was like seeing a ghost." I just stared at him Sonny and I have had conversations about his family. His parents were the guardians killed protecting the Badicas, Dimitri and I were the ones that found them my senior year. His sister was supposedly killed about a week later at the Drozdov's party on duty. I just hugged him, he was shocked at first but relaxed and hugged me back. "Are you okay?" he nodded "I was wondering if I can have all of next week off to catch up with her?" I nodded "Of course you can, I'll have Dante and Taylor on double shifts and Dimitri will help out some nights to give Dante and Taylor a break so they don't kill you." he nodded. "Okay thats enough for tonight, Jax's I'll see you in the morning?" he nodded and went into the locker room to change and go to supper. "Guys come here" I looked at Sonny "You're excused for a week starting now" He nodded and left, the guys approaching looked confused but didn't question it. I told them that Sonny was taking the week off, they complained but I silenced them with a if you give him grief over it then they can work triples for two days. Dimitri and I were heading home, Dante went to go get Jr from wherever he was at. Since we came here, it has been extremely hard to keep track of him and we've only been here for a couple of days. "Rose, do you realize you have a nickname from a student? Just like you and I back in the good ole days!" I nodded and grinned "Yes I do Comrade, but your nickname is still better and original." he laughed and swung his arm around around my shoulders. "How do you want to spend the rest of our night until the Jr and Dante get back?" I shrugged "Taylor and I will be going over schedules and looking over business deals.You can join us if you want, your opinion always matters." he just nodded and kept walking. I wonder what's up with him "Did you have something on your mind because I can pass everything off to Taylor and Dante tonight and we can spend the rest of the night in bed with Jr between us" that got a smirk out of Dimitri and I laughed "Okay give me a second to make a call to both of them." I pulled out my cell when the alarms started going off. The alarms were installed after the first Academy attack they alarms let us know watch out spotted Strigoi near the the protection shield. "Dimitri go find Jr and Dante now!" he took off without another glance at me. I might be the love of his life but Jr is his son and he matters more. I also made him promise if we were ever in a situation like this he was always to go find him if he wasn't with us, why I went and found out the issue. When I got to the edge there were at least 13 strigoi just waiting. "What do you want Gem? I thought we had a deal?!" she just laughed with her no emotion soul. "We did indeed. But things change and well your son he needs to die." I just glared "looks like our friendship has came to an end now hasn't it and now you'll die like the filth you are" and that's when I saw him Jesse. How much of a traitor can he become before people realize his life isn't worth anything. "I told you to leave Rose, I gave you a chance to find somewhere else." Then I saw it, a silver stake, he was going to stake the ward. "Don't do it Jesse, I'll help you. Are you really going to let these monsters kill these innocent kids?" I heard footsteps pounding on the ground. Why hasn't he staked it yet. Then I caught on he isn't doing this, he's doing it against his will. "Stake the ward now Jesse or she dies" he went up to the edge and put it through the ward. That's when my true skills came into test. Four strigoi stayed behind Gem and her minions, while the other 9 went on a hunt for food and my son. I beg you God Dimitri got to him in time "Well lets go? Stop standing around come get some Hathaway you corpse" I laughed but I was scared I wasn't going to make it. The three came at me, they were old but I was Rose Hathaway-Belikov. I threw punches one right after another. Then I got a good decent grip on my stake and plunged it into one of the three dead hearts. The two glanced at there fallen comrade and they bared there fangs at me. During there little show off I plunged it into the closest one next to me. I'm not here for a show down, the other one was a little harder he started thinking about his next moves but soon enough it was just me and Gem. "Good job Rose. We both know you can't beat me I'-" She didn't finish her sentence because Jesse plunged a stake into her back missing her heart of course but it gave me the chance to take her down. Killing her would just set us back, we need to question her. I did the next best thing, I snapped her neck. I pulled out the stake Jesse put in her back "Who does she have that you care about Jesse" he helped me pin her arms around her back, I put both stakes through it to make sure when she woke up she couldn't move and then looked at Jesse for an explanation. "We can't let any of the Strigoi out they'll get back to there camp and kill my daughter. I thought she was killed months ago but then I got a picture of her tied up with the current newspaper at the time. I gave them your address from the records at court and they did the rest. I'm sorry Rose but her mother was murdered and she is all I have left. Please help me, because if you don't you just signed her death warrant" I felt bad and I was going to help at all cost because he basically just saved my life. "We'll help do you know where the base is at?" he nodded "help me get her to confinement and you can tell us everything, I don't think you'll have a job after but I try and save it. I'm so sorry this happened to you, I know what you're going through. Though I don't think Dimitri will, he might just try and kill you." he laughed probably thinking as along as we save his kid. "So how old is she?" he smiled "She turned six three months ago" she is the same age as Jr, I keep getting attached what if I can't save her? I'll be devastated and I practically killed her by not saving her. I need to get these thoughts out of my head. I pulled out my phone and called Dimitri "Hello" thank goodness he's alive "Is Jr safe? Where are you. I need your help?" He cleared his throat "Rose" I fell to my knees "no, they didn't take him. They couldn't you were with him. How could you let them take him." "God no Rose! He's just hurt really bad. One of the Strigoi got his hands on him and snapped his arm." I let out the biggest breath I ever held and the sob came out of my mouth. "Is Lissa there to heal him?" Lissa better get there "What did you need Rose?" oh I almost forgot because Dimitri almost gave me a heart attack. "Send Dante, Taylor, and Sonny. We are going to need him for this. I feel really bad about taking him away from his sister but I need him." About ten minutes later and they were all here, I briefed them about the situation and watched them carry a now awake strigoi leader into confinement. I headed off to see my son and Lissa "How is he Lissa?" she smiled and wrinkled his hair together "Brand new. Aren't we Jr?" he nodded and hopped down and took ahold of my hand "You ready to go home Dimitri and Jr? Its time for you guys to eat and its close to someone's bedtime." I leaned in to hug Lissa "One got away, I don't know which one. They have a scout team looking for him right now." I looked at her "Jesse has a daughter and they have her. We need to find her soon and quick before they kill her." Lissa gasp but quickly put a mask down over it to not scare Jr but Dimitri saw and would probably have questions for me later. I haven't really told Dimitri anything due to the fact that he has been with our son. Walking home was the best thing that has happened in the short while we've been here, we're just a normal family taking a walk home. Getting home Dimitri went straight to cooking dinner. Jr and I went to the dining table and did homework all night. "Rose someone is knocking on the door, I can't get to it." I stood to go to the door when Jax burst through carrying someone with blood all over them. "She's still alive help her Rose. She can't die, please just help her, I'll do anything- i'll do anything" I nodded and pulled out my cell and made the call. "Jax I have someone on the way to help her and they'll be here soon. But I need you to go to my son and help him. I don't want him to see this at such a young age, now go and take him up to his bedroom and help him with his homework" He nodded wiping his tears he didn't realize he had. Dimitri had came in and help me stop her blood from coming out of her neck. Looks like a strigoi got her pretty good, what was taking Lissa so long to get here. Finally I heard the door open and I didn't expect to see Christian standing there with Lissa. Lissa came over and healed her but she found something very interesting in the process, that this girl was Royal and the Princess of the Conta family, but the most surprising part was that she was pregnant and the baby wasn't moroi. I don't know how Lissa could tell that maybe its another perk of being a spirit user. "Dimitri, I think this is a conversation for you. I don't know how to approach this without yelling at him about being an idiot." he nodded and headed upstairs to talk to Jaxson. The girl finally woke up probably 27 minutes after Dimitri went upstairs to talk to Jax's. Jr came down, Lissa and I moved her body to the guest bedroom. Jr got excited upon seeing his Uncle here, no matter what was going on between us he never held it against Jr and for that I was extremely happy. "Where am I?" Lissa looked at me and I turned to the girl "You're at my house, I'm Rose Hathaway-Belikov. This is Lissa and she is a spirit user and she healed you, you were attacked by a strigoi" and her first reaction was to put her hand by her belly and sadness consumed her "the baby is alright and yes only Lissa and I know about it, and so does Jax i'm taking it." She nodded, I didn't need to tell her about Dimitri and Christian knowing because they wouldn't say a word about it. Seconds later Jax's finally came downstair and his eyes coming onto Isabella Conta's eyes you could tell they were in love with each other. It'll be a very sad day once everyone realize that she's pregnant and its not a moroi baby. They'll probably get separated but I know Lissa and I just took this on to keep them together. But we needed to worry about Jesse's daughter first, Isabell and Jaxson weren't the most important case right now.

So sorry for this being so late, I've been busy. I know its Friday, but this coming Monday you'll get two new chapters on top of this one.
