26: Untold Stories

My eyes shot open and I groaned.

"You okay?" Thorin asked.

I croaked in response, "Mmhmm. What's this place called?"

"Laketown," Bard said and I had to turn my head to look at him.

My eyes widened as I looked past him.

Humans. That's what Elrond meant.

Humans conversing, selling things, carrying pigs and green plants. It reminded me of Food 4 Less, or El Superior. I kinda missed Los Angeles.

"HALT!" We all turned to see a tall, white man in weird red clothing, "BY LEAD OF THE MASTER I SAID HALT!"

"Go! Quickly!" Thorin commanded.

The next thing I knew we were running into this market thing.

"Stop! Get back!" Thorin skidded to a halt and started to move backward.

I said, "Thorin, I don't think that's-OMPH!"

I felt the weight of a bunch of dwarves slap my back and I buried my face in Thorin's back. The dwarves scattered and Thorin set me down.

"Stay here," he told me and kissed my forehead.

He grabbed a fish and ran out. The first humans I see in this place want to chase us the second they see us, great. Kili and Fili tripped a guard with rope, Dwalin knocked one out, and Nori paned the other in the face. Hands went around my neck and I yelled. I kicked out and clawed at the hands. With my good arm, I jabbed the attacker in the side. They slightly stopped choking me and I swirled around. I kicked his feet and slammed his head down on the table. Thorin was by my side in a second and he hid all three of us.

Bard and someone else were talking and Thorin and I stayed quiet. I was lightly rubbing my neck when I heard something break. I looked at Thorin and looked into one of the glass bottles on the table. The humans were helping cover up the guards, and my eyes softened.

"They're helping us," I whispered and he nodded.

Bard peaked over and nodded at us. As we stood up, I kicked the dude's metal helmet and he knocked out. Thorin chuckled, picked me up, and set me down.He was my crutch as we walked back to Bard.

A boy ran out to Bard and said, "Da our house is being watched."

So that's his son.

His words sent shivers down my spine. I looked around, and that's when I saw him.

Why is he here? I'm not even in the right state to fight back.

My eyes widened and he never took his eyes off me.

"Andiel," Thorin said, "What are you looking at? No one's there."

My eyes flickered to him, then back to the man. He was gone.

"M-my dad's here somewhere. I saw him. Thorin, he's going to hurt me again. A-and I can't protect myself. I-"

"Andiel, you're poisoned. He can't possibly be here, and if he were my nephews, Dwalin, and I would take care of him okay?" He held my face, "I'm keeping my promise; we won't let anything hurt you."

I nodded, but was still on the lookout. I couldn't even trust myself.

"Hey, listen. You have to get in the water," Bard said to all of us.

I looked at him, "I can't swim."

He replied, "Well then you better learn."

I glared at him, and all of us took this pathway through stairs and platforms until we got the place he had instructed us to stop at.
