A Fairy Tale

She waited with bated breath,
Hoping to see her knight in shining armour,
North, South, East and west she looked,
But time didn't seem to do her the favour

Patience of hers seemed to wear out,
Until he finally came, gait as bold as brass,
Her heart leapt with joy, as
Shivered even the greenest of grass.

He edged closer to the light of his life,
She shined like a star in the night,
Eyes of hers glistening like a silver lake
Who would not but melt at her very sight?

He flashed a smile that killed,
Her skin tingled with delight,
His eyes twinkled like the stars
That shine in the night.

The flowers bloomed, the sun shone
In the sky as pleasant as the sea
He knelt down and took her hand,
To make her his own for eternity.
