chapter eighteen

"Wait, what was Stephen King's first book?"

I couldn't help but sigh as I turned my head and saw that Blue was looking down at our notes that we had collected for our english class. He knew that I wasn't interested in Stephen King but when he picked the horror novelist to write a research paper on I couldn't say no.

"Carrie, it was published in 1977," I responded before looking down and seeing my favorite author, who happened to be Maggie Stiefvater. I loved her Shiver Trilogy, which was an absolute masterpiece. I had even painted the golden leafed trees that were described in the book.

"Yeah, and hasn't he written fifty-four novels so far?" Blue continued pestering and I couldn't help but groan, knowing that chilling in my living room while watching Bob's Burgers in the background wasn't a normal sight that anyone would probably see when it came to me but I didn't care. I loved the adult swim television series and so did Blue.

"Ask Siri, Blue. You might be my friend but I will easily slap you upside the head if you don't quit it," I mumbled as I reached my pen up and nibbled the cap of the pen. I scrunched my eyebrows together, knowing that I had gotten more information than he did. I had actually gotten started with it as soon as I got the assignment and now with only a week left in the three weeks that we had gotten the assignment Blue was just starting it.

"Siri, how many books has Stephen King written so far?"

I snapped my head up and saw that Blue had a victorious smile on his lips at hearing the right number given to him, which was the exact number he thought that it was. I reached down and picked up one of my pens that were scattered throughout the couch and threw it at him. It hit him on the top of his head and he just looked at me as though I had just done something very childish, which I was sure that was in the category of childish.

"I'm taking a break. You continue your research. I'm going to watch Bob's Burgers," I commented before I sat my notebook down and looked up at the television screen. Louise was talking about murdering someone and her dad, Bob, was telling her that he wasn't going to murder someone and she put a knife near him and motioned it to him but he kept on ignoring it.

I heard the sound of the notebook next to me shutting and turning my head, I saw that Blue had thrown his notebook down and looked as though failing his research paper didn't matter to him. He turned his head towards me and I arched my eyebrow up, the lamp near me reflecting off my glasses and casting a glare.

"You want to go star gazing?"

And even though I was going to tell him to continue his research paper as soon as that question was uttered I jumped off of the couch and turned off the television before me and grabbed the closest blanket near us before we shuffled towards the back door of my porch.
