"So there's nothing you can do, Doctor?" Mrs. Kennedy asked. She was nervously biting her lip and squeezing her husband's hand tightly. The doctor half shook his head and shrugged.

"It depends...all we can do is hope for a miracle..." his voice faded as he glanced towards Esther, who was lying on the hospital bed, a heart monitor attached, a machine helping her breathe. Mrs. Kennedy broke down, turning into her husband's arms. Esther looked whiter than the sheets, but she was alive...she was just...nothing...nothing would bring her back. Now.
