With slumped shoulders and a frown on her face, Val was working her shift at 7/11. She didn't want to be here. She wanted to be home crying over Sam.

Val had heard her mother talking on the phone to someone last night. She heard it was about Sam and how he couldn't see her anymore.

This saddened her greatly, even though she didn't want to see Sam's face. Val wanted to see his face.

Confusing? I know.

She took a deep sigh just as the familiar padding of feet entered the store.

Sam.

She looked up with a glint of hope in her eyes, just for it to crash and burn.

Following behind him was the girl from his apartment.

So Val put on a strong face and kept all her emotions in.

Sam grabbed his slurpie and walked to the front counter. She scanned his item and took the change from him.

And like that, she watched him walk out of the doors.

The saddest part of it all was that Sam was dying inside.

He wanted to just run up and hold Val but couldn't. He couldn't for his bands sake.
