Sam stood there shocked at her voice rising.

She was right though. He did need to stop being an ass and stop only saying hello.

He stood there in silence for a while before apologising.

"I'm sorry Val, it's just- I mean- look I really want to talk to you but I don't know what to say. I just act like an ass, but I'm really not"

Sam spoke with sincerity in his voice and Val couldn't stay mad at him. She couldn't stay mad at anyone.

She just nodded at him and looked down fiddling her thumbs.

"So how about I get your number?" He asked, a little shaky in his voice.

Val couldn't be happier and wrote her number down on a receipt. She added a love heart to her name which caused sam to smile at.

With that they shared a smile with each other and they went on with their day.
