Dylan hummed quietly as he sat, in his room, alone. He always wondered why he had no parents, but his grandfather would never say. Instead he just say something on the lines of,
"they needed to leave Dylan. They just needed to leave."
Dylan had always wondered what that meant. "Dinner Dylan!"
Dylan's grandfather yelled from downstairs. "Ok gramps! I'll be down in a sec!"
He replied, and as if on cue, his stomach rumbled.
Dylan chucked on a singlet, and hurried downstairs. He inhaled the strong smell of chicken soup and exhaled slowly. "Hey gramps". Dylan smirked as he pulled up a chair.
"Hey kiddo".
Jim bellowed. They ate in silence for a couple of minutes, consuming the frothy beverage. Dylan's curiosity got the better of him and found himself voicing his thoughts.
"When will you tell me the truth about my parents gramps?"
Silence fell again as Jim swallowed.
"I'm old enough to handle violent stuff. Please just tell the truth!"
Dylan went on, exasperated. Jim's kind face tightened and he clenched his jaw.
"Look, Dylan. It's not because your too young to know what happened. It's the fact that you won't believe the truth of what happened to your parents."
"I will believe it grandpa! You know me!" Dylan answered. "Yes of course I know you. But..." Jim paused. "But WHAT?!" Dylan yelled. Jim sighed, clearly knowing that this time Dylan would not give it up.
"do you believe in dragons?"
