Bittersweet

Chapter 33

"There you are!" April squeals running up to me as I approach my locker. She looks at me with a big smile then pulls me in a hug. I laugh and hug her back.

"What's the occasion?" I ask pulling back to look at her face.

"Chase told me you believe him!" She tells me with a big smile on her face.

"Oh, that" I smile playfully rolling my eyes and opening the locker.

"Yes! I'm just glad that there is no more awkwardness between my two best-friends" She leans against the locker beside mine.

"To be honest, I'm glad too" I say grabbing a textbook and shutting my locker.

"But he also told me about an emergency with Austin?" She says raising an eye brow. Crap. What the hell am I supposed to tell her now? I hate lying to her and I really want to tell her. I'm just afraid. What if this puts her in danger? I bite my lip trying to think of a lie.

"Caitlyn, what is it with you and Austin? Tell me honestly, I feel like you're hiding something from me every time I bring him up,  you act all weird and quite and start zoning out. Like if you guys are together, you can tell me I'm not going to be mad and to be honest I sort of saw it com-"

"April" I stop her rambling. "We are not together" I clear up for her as we walk towards the cafeteria.

"Then what is it? I know for sure that you are hiding something"  She says raising her eyebrows. We both take a seat at a table and April looks at me waiting for an answer.

"Okay fine there is something but I can't say anything" I say. I feel so bad, I want to tell her.

"Do you not trust me?" She says looking hurt.

"Oh gosh no, I trust you, it's just I can't. I want to, trust me I really do but I just can't" I shrug. "Not yet anyways" I say with sorry eyes.

"Alright fine, I'm not going to push you but that doesn't mean I don't want to know, it kind of worries me" She says giving me a closed mouthed smile.

"Thank you" I smile.

"But promise me you'll tell me when you can" She raises her eyebrows.

"I promise." I smile once again. It feels good to tell her at least something. I'm glad that she's being this understanding about it.

The bell rings indicating it's time for class.

"Subway for lunch? Chase has his car" April asks standing up.

"Sounds good" I smile as we walk to our destination.

"Alright see ya later" She waves.

"Bye" I say parting ways and stepping into class.

"Nah rain over snow any day" I shake my head.

"I'm with Caitlyn" Jade says from across the table.

"Alright new topic" April says waving her hand around and rolling her eyes.

"Oh my gosh Chase, look who it is" Bryan says from the end of the table with his mouth full.

"Who? Where?" Chase asks looking around.

"Shhh, behind me" He says nudging his head slightly. Everyone from the table looks over to where Bryan was indicating.

"Oh my gosh that fucker" Chase says with a disgusted look on his face. "I haven't seen him forever, What's he doing all the way here?" 

"Uhm hello? Care to explain" April says catching their attention.
