An unfamiliar ceiling greeted me when I opened my eyes. Scenes from yesterday came hurdling towards my mind. New York... Book signing... and Peter. Whenever I tell my friends about Peter or Thomas they always say that one is better than the other, that I could go either way and I'd be completely fine. But the thought of liking two very different people is one of the hardest things to believe in. Way before I met Peter, I thought I was contented, I thought that everything is going the way I thought it would. But as some people would like to say it 'Nothing ever goes your way' we are often surprised by unexpected happenings in our lives. Each moment becomes a turning point, each choice causes change. Things that are bound to happen today could change the way I look at things, could change the way I feel about someone. I looked at the bedside table and reached for my phone, I scrolled through my social media and saw how excited people were for the book signing. I looked at the time and saw that its a quarter past seven, and the signing was at nine o'clock. I've got a little more than an hour to get ready, so I decided to get up and went to my suitcase to decide on what I'm going to wear.
I settled for a long sleeved floral dress with touches of black and white that ends just before my knees. I paired it with some black ankle boots; After I settled on an outfit, I headed on the en suite bathroom of my hotel room. I got out of the shower and I have more than enough time to actually finish getting ready. While in the midst of doing my hair somebody knocked on my door...
I didn't even bother looking at the peep hole before opening the door. I was greeted by a familiar set of hazel eyes who were looking right back at me.
"Anne!" He said in a cheerful manner.
"Peter!" I said mocking his tone.
He just rolled his eyes in a joking manner while having that signature grin on his face.
"Are you ready to go?" he asked while looking at me from head to toe.
"I need to finish up my hair and I need to get my purse." I said while going back to the room, leaving the door open signaling him to get in.
He settled on sitting on the edge of the bed while looking straight at the mirror I was getting ready at and I can feel him watching every move I make.
"You're such a girl" Peter said while looking at his watch obviously impatient by me getting ready.
"Well I am a girl, gotta live up to the expectations" I said while finishing up my lipstick with a grin on my lips.
I stood up and got my purse from my suitcase and reached for the things that I might need.
"Lets go!" I told Peter.
"Finally!" he said with exaggeration in his voice.
I just rolled my eyes at him sarcastically and we headed to the elevator. When we reached the lobby a lot of people were already in it.
"ANNE!! " Someone shouted.
"OMG I LOVE YOUR BOOK!!" Another voice shouted.
A lot of people started to crowd around us, they weren't that many but they could probably reach up to twenty. Some of the security from the hotel started to control the people. but some of the supporters were really fighting back one guy got through the guards and ran towards me. The hug was so sudden that I got out of balance and fell on my bottom. A guard removed the guy on me and I felt strong arms lifting me up.
"Are you okay?" Peter asked with worry in his voice.
"Yeah I'm fine, I was just shocked." I said while dusting off imaginary dirt from my dress.
"Stay on my back.." He said. We approached one of the head of securities of the tour and Peter whispered something.
We went out of the hotel and he never took my hand away from his. The feeling of comfort and security came once again. We managed to get in to our car safely with no more crazy fans jumping at me. We got in the car and the car started moving, the bookstore wasn't very far we reached it within ten minutes on we entered the store using its back entrance to avoid any incidents just like earlier. The bookstore isn't your ordinary sized bookstore. It consists of four floors and the fourth floor is where they hold events like these.
The signing went great, and Peter never left my side. It ended at around lunch time and Peter and I decide to go out and eat. But being in New York everyone one is on the go so we decided to go to this cute restaurant and get the food to go and we settled to eat at central park. The park, as always was full of tourists but we managed to find this bench that was unoccupied. We ate through the conversation about very random stuff. When we finished we decided to walk around, Although its not our first time, but its our time to be here together. We aimlessly walked around the park and took photos like normal people do.
Throughout the after noon we continued to get lost around Central Park, we didn't talked that much, silence took over the whole time. On a normal situation I would initially freak out and get awkward but with him it didn't matter. We didn't need words to share a common feeling. Our presence was enough to make each other fell comfortable. We constantly smile at each other or just laugh it off but we never really had a proper conversation. When the sun started to set my feet started to give up as well. We found this patch of grass where the view was nice enough and we stayed there for a while.
"How was the reunion?" Peter asked with his eyes still locked on the sunset.
"It's fine, eventful I guess. But what happened after is a bit more interesting." I said while trying to sneak a glance in his face.
"What exactly happened after?" Peter said locking his eyes on mine.
I told him the whole story of the adventures with Thomas but leaving out the almost kiss scene. While I was telling the story He was looking at my face intently watching my face with every word that I say. When I ended the story he was quiet for a while until he spoke up...
"Isn't he the guy you've been pinning on for years now?" He said without looking at me.
"Not exactly, but yeah I liked him for a really long time but I'm rather confused."
With these words said, he seem to be very interested in the conversation instantly.
"Don't tell me you like two people at the same time" He said.
"Well you could say it that way, but I've been thinking about it, If I genuinely liked Thomas I wouldn't have second thoughts on choosing him but when this new guy came along, He ruined my plan, He ruined my imaginary future of having things work the way I want them to." I said while looking at my shoes.
"You know, Its not that really hard, Let's put it this way. If You really loved Thomas then why would you fall for the second guy?" he said with those hazel eyes burning through my soul.
I just shrugged at him. If he only knows how he's making it so much harder for me...
