bluehaze / blue·haze (n)
A fog that is so thick it makes everything seem much worse than it really is.
A bluehaze fell over the city this morning and I have never felt more alone.

Blinded by white
I think that's a tree
Everything is soft
And grainy
Like a bad picture
I can barely
See my feet
Everything is drenched
In a heavy grey
I step outside
Carefully looking down
As I search for the
Graveled path I'll
Be taking
It looks faded
But I can feel
It under my
Thin shoe soles
The smell of
Wet asphalt
Smothers me as
I pick my steps
Down the sidewalk
Hands deep in
My pockets
But hair
Oddly still and tamed
I can't hear much
Maybe the occasional
Bird or rush of
An automobile
But otherwise all
I know and see
Is my own two
Feet and the
Concrete beneath it
I turn a corner
And instantly
Fall to the hard
Gravel paved walkway
My backside landing
Roughly on a curb
I tumble into
The wet street
I curse and
Slowly lift
My sore body up
Carefully skipping
The slippery walk
And deciding to
Walk on the
Flat street
On any other
Day, I would
Laugh it off
But now my face burns
A deep crimson as
I make my way
Quickly through
The fog as if
I was in danger
Of someone watching
Me, even in the
White washed
Bleak and mysterious
Morning when
No one was before
My footsteps disappear in the haze
