Chapter 18

Jea's POV

Nakausap ko si mommy about sa pagiging official owner ko ng university. Kay mommy pa rin kasi naka-pangalan yung school. When I turn 18, ililipat na ito sa pangalan ko and I am going to be the CEO of the those two schools-- the NEU and NEA. Kaya pinag-aaralan ko na ding i-manage. Kapag nag-a-out of town/country si mommy, ako yung pumipirma and nag-aapprove ng mga requests about school matters.

Kasalukuyan kaming nag-uusap nina mommy ngayon sa office including our dean na si Auntie Isabel, SC President and her vice. We're talking about the upcoming event na gaganapin next next week.

"So, according to the papers, there will be having five categories in this school's talent search?" Auntie Isabel asked.

"What are those categories Auntie?" I asked.

"Singing (duo/single), dancing (single/group), and battle of the band," she stated.

"So, sa singing dalawang category na agad yun?"

"Yes, we'll be having five winners."

"Aren't we going to have the auditions first?" I asked.

"Yes po, Miss Jea. Next week po magkakaroon ng auditions sa Ruiz's hall. Five days po yung audition," sabi ni Camille-- yung SC President.

"Why is it five days?"

"One day audition each category po. So, we will post the announcements in the bulletin boards later."

Tumingin ako kay mommy na tahimik na nakikinig lang sa amin. Ganyan yan si mommy, strikta sa labas. "What do you think mom? Approve or decline?" I asked.

"Tell me the purpose of this project," my mom stated strictly.

"Ehem---Uhm. The purpose of this project madam is for the students who wanted to show their abilities and talents infront of everyone in this school. We noticed that a lot of students here are really talented, therefore, we created this project for them to show it and boost their confidence po." Hmm. She's right. We never had this kind of project before. I think it would be fun.

"I'm sure a lot of students will grab this opportunity. Napapansin ko rin yung mga talented na students sa eskwelahang ito. Including this woman beside me," sabay tingin sa akin ni Auntie. Whuuut?

"Hindi ako sasali dyan, Auntie."

"Oh come on, Jea. You're really are a talented person, why don't you join? Malay mo mag-champion ka." She smirks.

"No way, Auntie. Anyway mom, approve na ba? This event would be fun."

Mom tilted her head and stares at me. "In one condition," she says.

"What is it?"

"You'll join,"

"WHAT?! Oh no no!"

"Oh yes."

"But mom, isn't it unfair? Yung mga contestants na makakalaban ko magda-doubt if I'd join. Kasi they know me as of the owners of this school. I'm sure I'll win, but I don't want them to think na luto yung laban. Diba?"

Napatango sya na parang naiintindihan ako. Hah! Yes, ang galing kong lumusot.

"Okay then, you'll do the intermission number instead." Mas lalong lumawak yung ngisi nya. Ugh! Ano bang plano nito ni mommy?

"But mom--"

"No buts. This conversation is done. I already signed the papers. And you-- Jea, will do the intermission number," dire-diretsong sabi ni mom. And she left us hanging. Habang ako naka-nganga. She's impossible. Damn!
